The new A24 film, Everything Everywhere All At Once, is armed with an expansive 49-track soundtrack led by Mitski, David Byrne, and Son Lux’s “This Is A Life.” It’s a dynamite collaboration for the film’s soundtrack, which also features tracks with André 3000 (credited as André Benjamin), Moses Sumney, and Randy Newman.
The film, which is described in a press release as “a hilarious and big-hearted sci-fi action-adventure about an exhausted Chinese-American woman who can’t seem to finish her taxes,” stars Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Hsu, Jamie Lee Curtis, and others. It’s due out on April 8th, along with the soundtrack’s release as well.

Mayim Bialik’s career is experiencing something of a (sorry in advance) big bang. And TMZ’s report from last year about how Mayim was Sony’s first full-time Jeopardy! hosting pick (before the Mike Richards fiasco), but was too busy to take the job, is starting to make a whole lot of sense. Not only does she star in Call Me Kat, but Mayim stepped into the director’s seat, too.
Although Bialik is, in fact, now the Jeopardy! host for prime-time showcases (while sharing co-host duties with Ken Jennings, at least for the time being), the former Blossom star’s first directorial debut is upon us. As They Made Us stars Dustin Hoffman and Candice Bergen as the parents of Dianna Agron’s character, Abigail, and there’s a ton of family drama. Dustin’s character’s suffering severe health problems. Basically, Abigail is of the sandwich generation:
As They Made Us follows Abigail (Agron), a divorced mother of two, struggling to balance the unstable forces within her dysfunctional family. Her father Eugene (Hoffman) has a degenerative condition that he and his wife Barbara (Bergen) refuse to accept, and her brother Nathan (Helberg) has been estranged from the family for years. A self-appointed fixer, the film follows Abigail as she attempts to mend her complicated family’s dynamic before it’s too late.
In addition, Mayim recruited a former Big Bang Theory actor, Simon Helberg (who played Howard Wolowitz), for a script that she wrote. And over at Jeopardy!, she’s more than suggested her willingness to accept the full-time hosting job, should it come her way (again), but Jennings is still going strong, so who knows how that will all play out in the future. Mayim’s a busy lady for sure.
As They Made Us will debut on April 8 in theaters and on VOD.
Today’s episode of UPROXX Sessions features Nashua, New Hampshire native AzizTheShake, who comes through with a boastful, supremely confident performance of his upbeat single, “Toledo.”
The rapper/producer — whose name is a reference to a scene from Bruce Willis’ 1997 sci-fi cult classic The Fifth Element — recently executive produced fellow UPROXX Sessions alum BIA’s 2020 EP For Certain (as well as its deluxe edition), contributing beats for the songs “Automatic” featuring Doe Boy and 42 Dugg, “Bia Bia,” “Cover Girl,” and “Plate.” The New Englander has also worked with Black Fortune, Giggs, J. Cole, Jazz Cartier, Rob Stone, Sevyn Streeter, and Tommy Genesis.
On the solo tip, he’s released one album, 2019’s Brandt Theater, and released two new singles this year: “Toledo,” which features Jiles and Meech BOLD on the original version, and “Image of God” alongside Luke Bars. As he branches out, stepping from behind the boards to center stage to display his mic skills, his performance here forecasts the potential for a big breakout thanks to his infectious energy and witty wordplay.
Watch AzizTheShake perform “Toledo” on UPROXX Sessions above.
UPROXX Sessions is Uproxx’s performance show featuring the hottest up-and-coming acts you should keep an eye on. Featuring creative direction from LA promotion collective, Ham On Everything, and taking place on our “bathroom” set designed and painted by Julian Gross, UPROXX Sessions is a showcase of some of our favorite performers, who just might soon be yours, too.
Law & Order: Organized Crime star Christopher Meloni had a little fun with child star-turned-serial-a**shole Ricky Schroder, or at least had some fun at the Silver Spoons star’s expense. Over the weekend, Schroder—now looking more like Ted Kaczynski than the teen heartthrob he was in the ‘80s—posted a video from Washington, D.C.
As The Wrap reports, Schroder—parked outside the Capitol–was in D.C. as part of the “Freedom Convoy” protests, and shared some of his thoughts with his viewers (whoever they are) ahead of their arrival. And just what was he hoping to accomplish?
“We want freedom,” Schroder said. “Free. Our bodies are our own. We own this. You don’t. We get to decide what goes in and what goes out. Understood? It’s our bodies. Free the military from this experiment, too. God bless United States of America.”
Meloni seized upon Schroder’s own words to simply ask: “So…… pro abortion?”
There are few people more synonymous with college basketball than Dick Vitale. The former coach turned longtime broadcaster for ESPN is the voice of college hoops to so many, calling legendary games and making his catchphrases like “diaper dandies,” “PTPers,” and “it’s awesome baby” part of the college basketball lexicon.
This season has missed Vitale’s presence as the legendary analyst battled cancer, who briefly returned to the sidelines in November for Gonzaga-UCLA in which he delivered an emotional pregame speech, but was forced to step away from games shortly after for the rest of the season. With March Madness arriving and conference tournaments underway, Vitale’s voice is notably absent, but he delivered some spectacular news on Tuesday afternoon. Dickie V posted to Twitter in jubilation to announce that his latest scan showed no cancer, saying “my March Madness starts with a W baby!”
OMG ALL THE PRAYERS many of u have sent have been answered as DR Brown who heads my cancer TEAM called & said PET SCAN came back that NO CANCER is showing. I feel like a coach playing for the Final 4 has a PTPer hit a shot at buzzer. My MARCH MADNESS starts with a W baby ! pic.twitter.com/HS2yI3wgpB
It is terrific news and hopefully Vitale will be able to return to his beloved perch on the sidelines of the biggest college basketball games again next season. He has made clear how much he misses being at games and his year away has only served as a reminder for fans to appreciate his presence and joy for the game more. This is, truly, awesome baby.
If there were ever two personalities that were absolutely meant for each other, it’s Kanye West and Antonio Brown. When you both can’t seem to get out of your own way, you might as well join forces and see what happens? So, like an algebra equation where two negatives multiplied together equal a positive, Kanye recently named Antonio Brown — who was most recently released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — the president of his new Donda Sports venture. The pair both appeared on the Rolling Loud Miami lineup and it seems as though Ye is trying to foster Brown’s musical… errr… talents? But this is a two-way street and it’s what they’re working on with Donda Sports and a supposed bid to purchase the Denver Broncos that has multi-billion-dollar potential.
The Broncos were recently put up for sale and the price tag is said to reach the $4 billion mark. Heck, now that they’ve traded for quarterback Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks, the Broncos might actually be good this upcoming season. So when Brown was in LA recently, he was approached by a TMZ reporter (who else?). As he was hopping in his Ferrari, the reporter asked him if he and Ye were planning on meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell about purchasing the team, to which Brown replied, “Tell Roger to call me, ’cause we’re working on it.” He then added that he and Ye are “…extremely serious about it,” and added, “We’re working towards it to get it done.” He then hopped in his Ferrari and drove away.
Considering the NFL wouldn’t even sell a team to Donald Trump, what would make them warm up to the idea of the mercurial ex-wide receiver Brown and the outspoken rapper West sitting at the owners table? If this venture doesn’t work out, the pair could focus on developing Brown’s music career, as he also told the reporter, “I already got a Super Bowl ring, so hopefully I can get a Grammy.”
Prior to last night’s 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, country legend Dolly Parton sat down with E! News’ Daily Popto discuss her admiration for her peers in the industry. Parton, who hosted and performed at the 2022 ACM Awards, named a few artists with whom she’d like to collaborate. Among those artists were Cher and Cardi B.
Although Parton and Cardi B are sonic opposites, Parton said she admired Cardi’s outspokenness and creativity.
“She’s a character,” Parton told Daily Pop of Cardi. “I know she’s an original.”
Parton also expressed interest in working on some sort of project with Cher, incorporating the “Up” rapper one way or another.
“I would love to do something with [Cher] sometime, a TV show, or a movie,” Dolly said of Cher. “We’ll have Cardi B on that same show, let Cher host it, and me and Cardi B will be the entertainment.”
At the 2022 ACM Awards, Parton witnessed Kelly Clarkson deliver a tribute to her, by way of a performance of “Jolene.”
“I have known Kelly since she won American Idol,” Parton said. “She’s just so real, as everybody knows. She’s just exactly the way she comes across. Her voice is absolutely bliss and incredible.”
Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
As the world slowly shifts to a streaming service-only landscape, it has become increasingly difficult to find people who just have regular cable. Sure, you can watch every episode of Stranger Things on Netflix, and of course, you can only find every Star Wars title ever on Disney+, but whatever happened to just finding a good, old-fashioned HouseMD marathon on USA Network to have on in the background while you’re cleaning your room? Have we really moved beyond that? According to the 4.7 million people who canceled their cable and satellite subscriptions in 2021, we have!
According to a new report from Leichtman Research Group, the largest pay-TV providers in the U.S. lost about 4,690,000 subscribers in 2021. Surprisingly, this is still less than 2020, which was nearly 4.9 million. Still, that’s a lot of people shifting away from cable, most likely due to the abundance of streaming services, and their combined costs, which really do add up. Bruce Leichtman, president and principal analyst for Leichtman Research Group, Inc, doesn’t seem worried at the loss. “While the pay-TV industry continued to lose subscribers, net losses in 2021 were fairly similar to those in recent years.”
Services like Comcast and DirectTV both lost over 1.5 million subscribers each, leaving their final subscriber count to 18 million and 14 million, respectively. That’s still a lot, but doesn’t quite compare to sites like Disney+, which is aiming for 230 million subscribers by 2024. Currently, they have just over 83 million worldwide.
Streaming services that include live TV, like Hulu Live and Sling TV, had an increase in customers, due to their hybrid model, where you can watch sports and still catch up on original shows like Only Murders In The Building. Hulu Live TV added about 300,000 subscribers last year.
Still, having to keep track of all these services is becoming a little hectic. And, as HBO Max proved during the Euphoria finale, some streaming services can’t seem to handle the influx of viewers at once. Perhaps we should all just go retro and switch back to cable?
Lately, we’ve been actively building up our future travel itineraries as we prepare to finally go on all those vacations we’ve been postponing for *checks wrist (you know, where calendars go now)* two years. Andwhat better city to dream of visiting than Sydney, Australia? As of two weeks ago, Australia is now fully open to all vaccinated travelers and it’s certainly one of the first countries on our list as we make our way out into the world again. With beautiful blue harbors, delicious food, and some of the most awe-inspiring landmarks, both human and nature made, Sydney is full of splendor.
But in a city so rich in things to do, what’s the best way to just relax and take in your surroundings?
To find out we reached out to Australian electronic duo Cosmo’s Midnight, who provided us with a guide on their favorite Sydney chill out staples. The pair, consisting of twin brothers Cosmo and Patrick Line, have five Gold Singles to their name, have collaborated with BTS, received a cosign from Pharrell, and charmed the DJs at Triple J with their funky mix of ‘70s chicken-scratch guitar, swirling polysynths, and the uplifting and driving house rhythms.
This sound is perfectly exhibited on Cosmo’s Midnight’s new single, the addicting and funky “Can’t Do Without (My Baby),” which is equal parts nostalgic and futuristic, and almost impossible not to have a good time listening to. It sounds like Spring — all buzzing, vibrant, and euphoric and its feel-good vibe has us optimistic for the days ahead, something we haven’t felt for a while.
Give “Can’t Do Without (My Baby)” a listen and dive into the duo’s favorite Sydney spots.
Cafe 86, Cabramatta. Perfect for the best Vietnamese iced coffee, a bit out of the way if you don’t live in western Sydney. But it passes the vibe check. Lots of old dudes smoking ciggies and playing mahjong.
Bronte Pool is a haven, an oasis in a barren desert. We go to Bronte to keep ourselves in check and refresh. I try to visit this place a few times a week all throughout the year as it’s one of the best sea pools in Sydney and isn’t too far compared to some of the more beautiful, less crowded ones.
Located in Elizabeth Bay, right next to the CBD, this place is perfect for a lie down after too much sun or a boozy day in a smaller park. This park is extremely vibey with lush grass, a mossy bridge, and a Koi fish pond and also isn’t so big that you feel like you don’t have any seclusion.
By far the underdog of bowls club for people my age. This one is mostly populated by people in their early 40’s so you can feel a little out of place as it’s located in the family-oriented suburb of Petersham. But it’s always been a gem, especially before the suburb gentrified. It’s surrounded by Jacaranda trees and close to Petersham park so you get the longest sunset, so lovely.
Best mezcal only bar in Sydney. Many of the drinks are carefully sourced from Mexico and taste incredible, it also only fits a handful of people too so it doesn’t feel like a massive ordeal to hang out in.
This place is a cultural institution in Chinatown. You know which shop to look for because there are fake grapes hanging from the ceiling. So good to get a Tsing-Tao from the bottle-shop next door and sit outside in the balmy summer heat and smash some special braised eggplant and knife sliced noodles.
I think this is one of the oldest Lebanese institutions in Sydney and has such an immense vibe, huge draped ceilings, dim lighting, and most importantly they have some of the more esoteric/delicious dishes you don’t find at other places. It’s in Redfern so it should be an easy trip for anyone and we’ve been coming here since I was about 10 years old, so you can trust me when I say it’s good.
This is a Portuguese bakery in Petersham that is renowned for its pastel de nata. Portuguese tart best paired with nummy Cappuccino with extra choccy. Bonus: across the street is Frangos which is an iconic chicken shop that does arguably the best charcoal chicken/burgers in Sydney.
When I’m feeling low/hungover I’ll go straight from sweet Belem to Frangos for a real greasy pick me up.
I rarely make it over the other side of Sydney’s Harbor Bridge but sometimes I make it over to Castlerock for a swim at full tide. It’s one of the best harbor beaches in Sydney, believe me, I’ve tried them all. If the stars align and you come here at a full tide expect to have a revelation. This guy rides around on a boat making terrible coffee for anyone that yells at him as well, which is cool.
This is an amazing freshwater lagoon that you can get to by a short hike from Heathcote station. Expect many giant goannas and dudes smoking shishas around the water all day. The lagoon is fresh so it’s hard to swim without sinking, so don’t expect to go for laps in it.
1. Jon Hamm was on one of the best episodes of Bob’s Burgers as the voice of a talking toilet, and he keeps a memento from the episode near his toilet. “I came in and recorded the voice of a toilet,” he told reporter Tara Ariano. “And to this day, in my bathroom, there is a picture of Gene hugging a toilet. Very excited about that.”
2. Jon Hamm imagines his dog sounds like Greg from Succession.
“I feel like his inner voice is Greg from Succession. He kind of is like, ‘[in a Greg voice] Wow. So wait.” He’s kind of confused and amused at the same. “But wait, so I get a treat, but are we going to go for a walk? But wait, I’m kind of sleepy. What?’ Anyway, that’s how I feel my dog talks to me.
Anyway, Jon Hamm is a big dog guy (here he is meeting and petting some random person’s pup while filming Confess, Fletch), which is funny, because Don Draper is such a cat. “I don’t think about you at all” is every cat’s inner monologue 24/7.
