‘The Voice’ Is Ready To Pay Homage To Taylor Swift With A Special Night Dedicated To Her Chart-Topping Songs

Last week Taylor Swift‘s banner year got even better. Last week the pop star — who’s already had hit records and a money-gobbling concert movie — was named Time‘s Person of the Year. Organizations have been quick to profit off her success. The NFL is definitely happy that she’s dating Kansas City Chief’s Travis Kelce, despite his disapproval. TV shows are getting in on her, too.

Dancing With The Stars recently rolled out a night of original choreography influenced by Swift’s The Eras Tour.
Celebrity Jeopardy dedicated an entire category to Swift during a recent episode. Now The Voice is following suit.

On Monday, December 11, the remaining contestants will perform covers of Swift’s chart-topping songs. Swift has appeared on the show in the past, including in Season 7 as an advisor and again in Season 17 as a mentor.

So far, the remaining contestants include Huntley, Nini Iris, and Mara Justine on coach Niall Horan’s team. From Reba McEntire’s team, Jordan Rainer, Jacquie Roar, and Ruby Leigh remain. On Gwen Stefani’s team, Bias is the lone wolf. While John Legend’s team consists of Mac Royals and Lila Forde. Given the talent already displayed in past episodes, next week should be a piece of cake.

The Voice‘s episode centered around Taylor Swift’s music is set to air on Monday, December 11 at 8 pm central time. Find more information here.

Megyn Kelly Says Increasingly Mush-Brained Donald Trump Has Lost ‘Multiple Steps’ Mentally

Trump Megyn Kelly
Fox News

What’s going on with Donald Trump’s brain? The last several months have found the former president making bizarre gaffes: mixing up Joe Biden and Barack Obama, claiming the former will start “World War II,” accidentally telling the truth. Trump has tried unconvincingly to explain these slip-ups, but among the people not buying that is one of his rightwing adversaries: Megyn Kelly.

“There’s no question Trump has lost a step or multiple steps,” the former Fox News host told Glenn Beck Friday. “He is confusing Joe Biden for [Barack] Obama … I know he’s now saying he intentionally did that — go back and look at the clips, it wasn’t intentional.”

Much has been made of Biden’s age, but Trump isn’t much younger.

“This is what happens when you’re 77 years old. Trump seems inhuman, but he’s not inhuman. He’s a human. He’s a man,” she said. “DeSantis’ line about ‘Father Time spares no one,’ was a good one. So, look, if it’s between Trump and Biden, I don’t think there’s any question who’s more fit and more capable. But are we really going to pretend that Donald Trump is just as vibrant and mentally sharp as he was in ’16?”

Trump and Kelly don’t exactly get along. Back in 2015, she moderated his first Republican primary debate, and he did not appreciate some of her “nasty” questions. If you think he’d gotten over it eight years later, you’d don’t know much about Donald Trump.

30 things people don’t realize you’re doing because of your depression

Most people imagine depression equals “really sad,” and unless you’ve experienced depression yourself, you might not know it goes so much deeper than that. Depression expresses itself in many different ways, some more obvious than others. While some people have a hard time getting out of bed, others might get to work just fine — it’s different for everyone.

To find out how depression shows itself in ways other people can’t see, we asked The Mighty mental health community to share one thing people don’t realize they’re doing because they have depression.

Here’s what they had to say:

1. “In social situations, some people don’t realize I withdraw or don’t speak much because of depression. Instead, they think I’m being rude or purposefully antisocial.” — Laura B.

2. “I struggle to get out of bed, sometimes for hours. Then just the thought of taking a shower is exhausting. If I manage to do that, I am ready for a nap. People don’t understand, but anxiety and depression is exhausting, much like an actual physical fight with a professional boxer.” — Juli J.

3. “Agreeing to social plans but canceling last minute. Using an excuse but really you just chickened out. It makes you think your friends don’t actually want to see you, they just feel bad. Obligation.” — Brynne L.

4. “Hiding in my phone. Yes, I am addicted to it, but not like other people. I don’t socialize, I play games or browse online stores to distract myself from my negative thoughts. It’s my safe bubble.” — Eveline L.

5. “Going to bed at 9 p.m. and sleeping throughout the night until 10 or 11 a.m.” — Karissa D.

6. “Isolating myself, not living up to my potential at work due to lack of interest in anything, making self-deprecating jokes. I’ve said many times before, ‘I laugh, so that I don’t cry.’ Unfortunately, it’s all too true.” — Kelly K.

man dealing with depression

7. “When I reach out when I’m depressed it’s ’cause I am wanting to have someone to tell me I’m not alone. Not because I want attention.” — Tina B.

8. “I don’t like talking on the phone. I prefer to text. Less pressure there. Also being anti-social. Not because I don’t like being around people, but because I’m pretty sure everyone can’t stand me.” — Meghan B.

9. “I overcompensate in my work environment… and I work front line at a Fitness Centre, so I feel the need to portray an ‘extra happy, bubbly personality.’ As soon as I walk out the doors at the end of the day, I feel myself ‘fall.’ It’s exhausting… I am a professional at hiding it.” — Lynda H.

10. “The excessive drinking. Most people assume I’m trying to be the ‘life of the party’ or just like drinking in general. I often get praised for it. But my issues are much deeper than that.” — Teresa A.

11. “Hiding out in my room for hours at a time watching Netflix or Hulu to distract my mind or taking frequent trips to the bathroom or into another room at social gatherings because social situations sometimes get to me.” — Kelci F.

12. “Saying I’m tired or don’t feel good… they don’t realize how much depression can affect you physically as well as emotionally.” — Lauren G.

13. “Answering slowly. It makes my brain run slower, and I can’t think of the answers to the questions as quickly. Especially when someone is asking what I want to do — I don’t really want anything. I isolate myself so I don’t have to be forced into a situation where I have to respond because it’s exhausting.” — Erin W.

14. “Sometimes I’ll forget to eat all day. I can feel my stomach growling but don’t have the willpower to get up and make something to eat.” — Kenzi I.

15. “I don’t talk much in large groups of people, especially when I first meet them. I withdraw because of my anxiety and depression. People think I’m ‘stuck up.’ I’m actually scared out of my mind worrying they don’t like me, or that they think I’m ‘crazy’ by just looking at me…” — Hanni W.

16. “Not keeping in touch with anyone, bad personal hygiene and extremely bad reactions to seemingly trivial things.” — Jenny B.

17. “Being angry, mean or rude to people I love without realizing it in the moment. I realize my actions and words later and feel awful I had taken out my anger on people who don’t deserve it.” — Christie C.

18. “Purposely working on the holidays so I can avoid spending time with family. It’s overwhelming to be around them and to talk about the future and life so I avoid it.” — Aislinn G.

19. “My house is a huge mess.” — Cynthia H.

20. “I volunteer for everything, from going to PTO meetings to babysitting to cleaning someone else’s house for them. I surround myself with situations and obligations that force me to get out of bed and get out of the house because if I’m not needed, I won’t be wanted.” — Carleigh W.

Shohei Ohtani Is Signing With The Dodgers For $700 Million

shohei ohtani

It’s official: Shohei Ohtani will change teams. In one of the biggest free agency decision in baseball history, Ohtani is reportedly on his way to the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to his own Instagram.

It had be been reported that Ohtani was considering a number of potential options in free agency, including the Blue Jays, which included some comical plane tracking that got Shark Tank fans involved. Reports indicated that he narrowed his list down to two teams in recent days: The Blue Jays, which would require him to move from southern California to Toronto, or the Dodgers, which would mean his time in the American League came to an end.

The deal is astronomical. According to Jeff Passan, it’s 10 years and $700 million.

You read that correctly, $700. Million. But for good reason.

After starting his career in Japan, Ohtani came to the United States in 2018. He decided to team up with Mike Trout on the Angels and put forth one of the most remarkable stretches of dominance in the history of the sport, as he was named the American League’s Rookie of the Year in 2018, the AL MVP in 2021 and 2023, and came in fourth place in AL Cy Young voting in 2022. Despite his individual brilliance, the Angels never made the postseason during Ohtani’s tenure with the team.

Last season, Ohtani led the American League with 44 home runs while posting an OPS of 1.066, which led the Majors. As a pitcher, Ohtani went 10-5 with a 3.14 ERA, although his future on the mound is on hold due to elbow surgery he received in September. The most recent reports indicate that Ohtani will be able to hit during the 2024 campaign, and should be able to pitch again starting in 2025.

Netflix Seemed To Troll Elon Musk By Posting A ‘Leave The World Behind’ Clip Where Killer Teslas Are Out To Get Julia Roberts

Leave the World Behind
Netflix

Elon Musk may have seriously screwed up Twitter, but let’s not forget about his other businesses. Take Tesla. The thin-skinned, advertiser-hating businessman has long been obsessed with creating self-driving cars, and he hasn’t let constant failures convince him otherwise. Now he’s even inspired a terrifying scene in a horror movie.

Per Mediaite, on Friday Netflix took to Twitter/X to post a clip from Leave the World Behind, their new, Barack Obama-approved apocalyptic thriller with Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, and Mahershala Ali. The clip finds Roberts’ character walking amongst a sea of white Teslas that have piled up on a country road. When she notices a placard attached to one of them bearing the words “Full Self-Driving Capacity,” ominous music pounds on the soundtrack…followed by one self-driving Tesla after another speeds her way.

That this was posted on the once-thriving social media service made it all the richer.

The latest from Mr. Robot’s Sam Esmail, Leave the World Behind depicts what happens when technology goes haywire, with everything from wi-fi to phones to cities falling apart. It’s unclear from the clip what exactly has caused the Teslas to run amok, it’s yet another reminder that letting cars control themselves might not be such a hot idea.

Leave the World Behind now streams on Netflix.

In French Montana’s documentary For Khadija, the “Ain’t Worried About Nothin” rapper showed his humble beginnings and family life. But in his latest single, he has no interest in being humble.

Montana’s new ATL Jacob-produced record, “Ok” with Lil Baby, is a cocky demonstration of just how much access, wealth, and swagger they have, rapping, “She wanna ride with the star / Ended up droppin’ my top, okay / My ex told me she needed space / I guess we both goin’ to Mars / I cannot forget the base / I’m takin’ my mop on my dates / Just look at the look on their faces / They wanna jump in my place / Told shorty she was the one / But I’m takin’ her friends out to tan.”

Lil Baby followed up with his own verse: “Straight off a plane to these racks / We gon’ stunt to the vibes, and we gon’ keep it goin’, let’s go / I throw a fit in Rick Owens / Mama the sh*t and she know how she be / Ain’t just talkin’, I got it, I show it / Send a boardin’ pass when she get bored / Country hoppin’ in the Urus, we tourin’ / Keep it low if they know that it’s roarin’.”

A simple ‘test’ can help identify potentially abusive partners early in a relationship.

Most abusers don’t start their relationships by hitting their partners. That’s why early warning signs are vital to recognize.

I know two women who recently left abusive partners. Both men seemed sweet and likable—even gentle—each time I saw them. Both had some lovely qualities as people and even as partners. And both turned out to be controlling, increasingly abusive partners behind closed doors.

The thing about domestic violence is that most people don’t enter into relationships with someone who abuses them from the get go. It’s often like the analogy of the frog in boiling water. If you place a frog into a pot of boiling water, it’ll jump right out. But if you put it in a cool pot and gradually increase the temperature, the frog won’t recognize that it’s being slowly cooked until it’s too late.

Abuse usually comes on gradually, with plenty of opportunity to manipulate and forgive and justify the water getting warmer. That’s why many stay in abusive relationships far longer than they should.

A domestic violence counselor suggests a simple test to help identify potential abusers early in a relationship.

Rob Andrews is a domestic violence counselor in Australia. He told ABC News that he advises people to use what he calls the “No Test” to identify potential red flags early on in a relationship.

“The No Test is basically to watch out for the way your partner responds the first time you change your mind or say no,” Andrews said.

“While expressing disappointment is OK, it’s not the same as annoyed. Annoyed is ‘how dare you,’ a sign of ownership or entitlement.”

Ownership, entitlement, control—these are red flags that often lead to increasingly abusive behavior. And though women can definitely be abusers, the reality is that women are much more likely to be the victims of domestic violence and male abusers tend to be more dangerous to their partners.

“A lot of the women who will present to services will see themselves as part of the problem,” Andrews said. “They’ll ask themselves why they’re always attracted to abusive men, blame themselves for not being assertive enough, blame themselves for pushing their partner’s buttons, causing their anger.”

“With the No Test, we’re not trying to give women knowledge that they didn’t already know,” he said, “but when they see it in black and white in front of them like that, they realize they of course have the right to say no, that they aren’t to blame.”

Andrews describes our patriarchal history as “the nut of the problem.”

Andrews said that some people erroneously tell women that they should just be more assertive with their partners, letting them know they won’t stand for controlling or abusive behavior, but that’s not always the best tack to take.

“Being assertive with a man who’s threatening to bash you is not a very good idea,” he said. “It almost comes from what I’d call ‘deficit thinking,’ that somehow these women need to be trained up so that the people won’t abuse them. The only person who can stop the abuse is the person who is doing the abusing.”

Andrews works with men who are struggling with their own behavior and want to change. He has them think about what kind of man they really want to be and work with them to align their behavior with that vision.

“I hear a lot of people saying how it’s so hard for men now, it’s all so confusing,” he said. “It’s very easy to be a man. Just be polite and respectful to people, it’s not that difficult really.”

“But in saying that,” he added, “we are to some extent dealing with 2,000 years of history of women being a second-class citizen. That’s the nut of the problem and we’ve got to keep chipping away at it.”

Jimmy Fallon asked people to share ‘funny, weird, or embarrassing’ stories about their dads

There are many traditional staples of fatherhood—love, support, protection, security, providing an example—but there is, of course, that other not-so-warm-and-fuzzy feeling that dads can provoke in their kids at any given moment … sheer, utter embarrassment.

Usually in a father’s humiliation tool belt is the infamous dad joke. These corny puns have been around since 2003, and let’s face it, they’ll never leave. Of course, no dad needs one to make your eyes roll. They can do that most of the time simply by being themselves.

For his well-known #Hashtags segment, Jimmy Fallon asked his “Tonight Show” audience to share “funny, weird, or embarrassing” stories about their dads. Fallon, a father himself, is no stranger to the cringeworthy power of a dad joke. In a 2020 interview with TODAY, Fallon admitted, “I’m starting to get the eye rolls now where Daddy’s not the funniest person in the world.”

Don’t worry Fallon! Clearly you’re not alone, because people replied with some truly hilarious comments. Dads might be silly, but we’ll gladly put up with it for the love they give us.

14-yr-old’s expressive, physics-defying ‘Mad World’ dance blows away AGT judges and fans

Dance is a unique art form in that the medium it utilizes is the human body itself. Simply through purposeful and graceful control of movement, dancers can express and evoke joy, sadness, fear, confusion—the whole range of human emotion. And when dancing is done well, it’s utterly mesmerizing.

Such is the case with Mariandrea, a 14-year-old from Mexico who auditioned for America’s Got Talent in July of 2023 and wowed both the judges and the audience with her dance performance. She has been dancing since she was 5, and as Simon Cowell pointed out, it’s clear that she was born to do this.

After showing off her sparkling personality during the pre-performance interview, Mariandrea danced to a cover of Tears for Fears’ “Mad World,” personifying the song in her performance. But it wasn’t just her intentional movement that reflected the emotional complexity of the ever-popular hit. Her facial expressions, ranging from subtle fear to a clown-like smile to genuine sorrow to angry defiance, change on a dime, adding an acting element to her routine that takes it to the next level.

Add in the incredible control she has of her body as it twists and turns and seems to defy gravity, both gracefully flowing and disturbingly contorting, and it’s easy to see why she earned a standing ovation and enthusiastic praise from all four judges.

Watch:

For someone so young to have such a strong grasp of her craft is quite extraordinary, and people were wowed by her talent as well as her showmanship.

“I had to watch this more than once. Her smile, energy, and face reminds me of a young Natalie Portman. You can tell she is more than a dancer also, very intelligent, expressive, talented, yes acting too. Wow! Congratulations!” shared one commenter.

“This young lady has a very bright future ahead of her! The passion that she emanated while dancing was above and beyond what we have seen in half the dancers that are older than her… Can’t wait to see what she does next!!!” wrote another.

“Stunned. I would have given her a golden buzzer. The sharpness, flexibility, timing, theatrics, and costume use. 10/10,” shared another.

One commenter pointed out that her dance felt like a monologue, and another person called it “absolute art.” Many people expressed disappointment that she didn’t receive the Golden Buzzer, which would propel her immediately to the final round. But if her other performances are anything like this one, she’s got a pretty decent chance of making it to the finals without it.
