Latto’s Coachella Set Included Appearances From Lola Brooke And Saweetie, Along With A Possible Nicki Minaj Diss

Latto‘s first-ever Coachella set was an eventful one, as she pulled out all the stops, packing in surprise guests, and even apparently getting in a shot at Nicki Minaj.

Saweetie originally appeared on Latto’s 2019 remix of “Bitch From Da Souf” from Latto’s debut album Queen of Da Souf. Saweetie performed her verse from the song, receiving a huge pop from the crowd when she appeared. She also made it a point to big-up Latto after performing, saying, “She can rap her ass off… Bitch, and you look better than me!”

Meanwhile, Latto used her platform to help out a couple of rap’s rising stars, Lola Brooke and TiaCorine, bringing out the former to perform her signature hit “Don’t Play With It” (Latto appears on the remix) and the latter for a performance of the “FreakyT” remix.

Of course, the attention-getting moment was when Latto performed a new song in which she says the line “she thought I would kiss her ass, she must ain’t took her meds.” Fans have interpreted this as a shot at Minaj, with whom Latto has shared a contentious relationship ever since Nicki denigrated her achievements on Queen radio, leading to a spat on Twitter and a continuing cold war between the two.

We’ll see if Nicki sees it the same way and responds. For now, check out the clips above.

A TikTok Star Has Revealed The Embarrassing Truth About Influencers Who Pretend To Be At Coachella

If you spent any time on social media over the weekend, your feed was likely clogged with photos and videos taken by people attending Coachella. Except for the ones who were only pretending to be at the music festival.

TikTok star Loren Gray took to her account to expose the fakes who claims to be at Coachella for the views, but are actually somewhere off-site. “OK, I haven’t personally seen anyone talk about this but I think it’s hilarious and I have to share it because, it’s Coachella. Coachella‘s like the influencer Olympics, right? It’s the place to be,” Loren explained on TikTok (where she’s one of the 20 most-followed accounts). “But most influencers, or a lot of influencers, don’t even go to Coachella. I think that this is such a wild fact.”

Gray claims that certain unnamed influencers will travel to the desert, rent an Airbnb, get their hair and makeup done, and post Coachella content. But “they don’t go to the festival,” she said. “They don’t have wristbands. They just drive their little butts out to the desert to take Instagram photos, make TikToks, get ready with me’s, whatever. Then they drive back and that’s it.”

They also have a girlfriend who you haven’t met, she lives in Canada, but she’s definitely real. Her name, is, uh, her name is Ella… Ella Coach.

You can watch Gray’s TikTok below.

If you want to read about Coachella from people who were actually there, we got you.

‘The Little Mermaid’ Remake Reportedly Has A Runtime That’s Not So Little

The Little Mermaid live-action remake is set to dive into theaters next month, and hopefully, audiences are ready to be submerged for a decent chunk of time. The film, starring Halle Bailey as Ariel, is reportedly boasting the longest runtime out of all the Disney remakes to date.

According to Collider, The Little Mermaid will clock in at 2 hours and 15 minutes (or 135 minutes total), which continues Disney’s trend of almost doubling the runtime of its animated classics that often ran at a tight 85-90 minutes:

The closest comparisons we can make at this stage are to fellow Disney Renaissance films Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, which saw their respective 84- and 90-minute runtimes expanded out to 2 hours and 9 minutes and 2 hours and 8 minutes respectively. The only other Disney live-action remake that currently sits above the 2-hour mark is Cruella, though that is less of an indication of what fans can expect, as that film was an entirely new backstory.

The Little Mermaid will also make some modern adjustments to some of the classic song lyrics, and Bailey recently told Modern Luxury that the live-action remake will update the story so Ariel isn’t leaving the ocean world just for some boy.

“It’s way bigger than that,” Bailey said. “It’s about herself, her purpose, her freedom, her life, and what she wants.”

The Little Mermaid swims into theaters on May 26.

Some Of Chris Evans’ ‘Marvel Buddies’ Will Cameo In ‘Ghosted,’ And He’s Also Not Opposed To A Cap Return

Those Marvel folks sure do love their cameos. Whether it’s in a post-credit scene or a Where’s Waldo-like background character, it’s hard to keep the ever-expanding Marvel family apart. Even though Chris Evans is no longer Captain America (as of right now) he still hangs around his Marvel crew, and it seems like one or two of them will make an appearance in Evans’ new romcom Ghosted.

While promoting the movie on Good Morning America, the former Mr. America himself revealed that there would be some familiar faces in the AppleTV+ movie. “There are some cameos, that’s right. Can we give that away?” Evans laughed, seemingly nervous that the Marvel gods would appear from the ceiling and interrupt the broadcast. Nothing like that happened, so he was in the clear! “Yeah, we had some old Marvel buddies back,” the actor confirmed.

Evans continued to explain how hard it can be to ask for his famous buds to appear. “I hate asking people for cameos. It’s the worst!” When asked if he thinks his Marvel co-stars like doing cameos, Evans replied, “If it fits into their schedules I suppose, but these guys rose to the challenge. There were there for me, it was great.” So it appears that we will get more than one Marvel callback in this movie. Maybe Scarlett Johansson decided she wanted to join in after all!

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Chris Evans interview without addressing the America-sized elephant in the room. Evans was asked if he would ever return to screens as Captain America, and while he seemed hesitant, he said he would be open to it down the line. “You know, as much as I would love to…that was such a special time in my life. I’m very precious with the character,” Evans explained. “That’s my problem, I’m very protective of it. To come back it would have to be for the right reasons and the right timing. It feels a little too soon.” Considering that Evans last appeared in a Marvel movie in 2019, on paper it seems like it’s only been four years, but in reality, we’ve all aged several decades since then.

Evans also hyped up the current Cap, who is set to reprise his role in Captain America: New World Order. “Anthony Mackie’s Captain America right now,” Evans explained. “There’s other stories to tell. For now, we ended on such a good note, I would be too worried about tarnishing [that].” Maybe he’ll pop in for a little cameo the next time the Avengers meet up, just to return the favor.

Ghosted premieres on AppleTV+ on April 21st.

Paramore’s Hayley Williams Is Tired Of Concert Ticket Problems: ‘Ticketmaster Need To Get Their Sh*t Together’

Paramore kicked off their six-show UK and Ireland run with Bloc Party on Thursday, April 13, in Dublin. The show included a serene cover of The Cranberries’ “Dreams” and a not-so-serene-but-well-deserved shot at Ticketmaster.

“I wanna say one more time how special it is that you’ve all made it tonight,” Hayley Williams said, according to NME. “We don’t take it lightly. We know, honestly, especially now, it’s a huge sacrifice to come to a show because Ticketmaster need to get their sh*t together. We’ve put a lot of pressure on ourselves, too, because we were like, ‘People are spending money that they don’t have to come and hang out with us, and we better give them something that’s worth that.’ We just love you so much.”

Ticketmaster is hated by many fan bases because of the service’s exorbitant fees and faulty interface, including Swifties after a disastrous The Eras Tour presale that warranted a Justice Department investigation. Swift released a statement in November that said, in part, it was “excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse.” The Senate Judiciary Committee even issued a warning of sorts to Ticketmaster ahead of Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour sale earlier this year.

Artists such as Zach Bryan and Maggie Rogers have creatively circumvented the system.

Paramore will tour North America from May 23 to August 2, and loyal fans will probably be thankful they maneuvered whatever obstacles — Ticketmaster or otherwise — to see them.

Paramore is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Is Shiv Pregnant On ‘Succession’ Season 4?

How do you follow up the shocking news that Logan Roy is dead? If you’re Succession, it’s with a badly-timed pregnancy announcement.

In episode four’s “Honeymoon States,” the Roy siblings are still reeling from the unexpected passing of their father when Shiv (Sarah Snook) receives a surprising phone call that puts her own power-grabbing plans in jeopardy. Within the first few minutes of this week’s installment, Shiv is contacted by her doctor, who (after passing along some appropriate condolences) informs her that her “results are good,” mentions amniocentesis tests, and asks if she’s experiencing any bleeding or spotting. The doc ends the call by promising to chat more when Shiv comes in for her “20-week scan.”

So congratulations are in order … we guess?

Naturally, Shiv doesn’t seem thrilled about the news that her pregnancy is going well in its second trimester. She’s still grieving her late father, preparing for a nasty divorce battle with the child’s father, and her brothers are already teaming up to push her to the back of the line of succession. The happy news couldn’t have come at a worse time, and yet, fans still lost their mind over the reveal, piecing together the clues the show may have dropped earlier in the season and sussing out what this new development means for Tom (Matthew Macfayden) and Shiv’s future.

HBO’s Succession airs on Sunday nights.

John Mulaney’s Netflix Special Might Be ‘Obnoxious, Wasteful, And Unlikeable,’ And That’s A Good Thing

This just in, the last few years have been a lot. I don’t think I need to recite the list. In the last 24 hours alone we saw the Love Is Blind live stream fiasco and Frank Ocean nearly on ice at Coachella. It’s a world gone mad. But while you take a moment to process the stunning revelation of our collective alotness, let’s also remember the sheer tonnage of stuff that’s gone on in John Mulaney‘s life since his last Netflix special, 2018’s Kid Gorgeous: a relapse, a stint in rehab, the end of one relationship, the beginning of another, and the birth of his and Olivia Munn’s first child. All of this has been widely broadcast and gossiped about proving that Mulaney is not just any old comedian, but one of those rare comics that touches the rarified air of celebrity, people-on-the-internet-always-talking-about-you status. Lucky him.

All of the above is to say that Mulaney’s upcoming Netflix special, Baby J, which spawned from his wildly successful and oft-confessional comedy tour, won’t be lacking subject matter. And as we see in the freshly released teaser trailer, some of the conversation may be “obnoxious, wasteful, and unlikeable.” Which is a good thing.

Plenty of comics have looked outward, connecting with their audience over the shared tumult of these times. And that’s fine, but that approach can often feel a little distant. Others have gone inward, revealing their own pain and pressures. It might just be a matter of taste, but to me, that’s the kind of material that really connects.

Mulaney, with that celebrity status in mind, could have decided that everything about his life is already out there for the world to digest. He could have figured there was no need for him to get into it, but it appears that he may have gone the other way, giving some of himself to the process. How much? Well, as he says in the teaser, there are going to be stories he’s willing to tell and one’s he’s not, which is also a good thing. And with a master whose calling card is his specificity (both with language and presentation), you know it’s going to be the exact right mix.

‘Baby J’ debuts on Netflix April 25.

The Weeknd’s Controversial Series ‘The Idol’ Finally Has A Release Date

The Weeknd’s long-awaited — and controversial — series The Idol finally got its release date today, along with a new teaser trailer. The Idol will make its debut on Sunday, June 4 at 9 pm ET on HBO, as well as streaming on the recently-renamed Max. The new teaser reveals few details of the plot that we didn’t already know, but does feature some steamy scenes of Abel’s cult-ish character getting close to Lily-Rose Depp’s pop singer Jocelyn.

The Idol — which was co-created by Euphoria‘s Sam Levinson before he took over as director at The Weeknd’s request — has been the subject of contentious rumors and fan speculation after Rolling Stone published a feature revealing some of the behind-the-scenes snafus with the production, including the original director Amy Seitz being replaced by Levinson when Abel apparently became worried that his character’s screen time was being curtailed to emphasize a more feminist story from Jocelyn’s point-of-view.

Some of the scripts produced after the change — which came after 80 percent of the show had already been filmed — drew criticism from the crew for containing problematic themes. The Weeknd himself took issue with the Rolling Stone article, lashing out on Twitter with a scene from the show itself that didn’t much help his case, and circumspectly addressing the rumors in an Interview magazine conversation with Jeremy O. Harris.

We’ll find out how it all plays out on 6/4 on HBO. Check out the new trailer above.

Taylor Swift Didn’t Leave Tampa Without Debuting Another Song With Aaron Dessner On Her ‘The Eras Tour’

Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour took over Raymond Jones Stadium in Tampa, Florida from Thursday, April 13, to Saturday, April 15, and Swift shared the (very humid) spotlight with Aaron Dessner for two of those nights.

Dessner was spotted in attendance on April 13, but he first joined Swift on stage for the April 14 show to perform “The Great War,” a Midnights (3am Edition) track, during the mystery song portion of the set. (Swift has vowed to play two different songs at each of her shows throughout the tour without repeating any.)

Dessner reappeared at the same point in the set on April 15 — this time, sitting at the piano with Swift for “Mad Woman” from their Grammy-winning 2020 album Folklore.

“Still buzzing from those 3 shows in Tampa!!!” Swift wrote to Instagram and Twitter. “Thank you for the unforgettably epic crowds and to @aarondessner for coming out to play twice with me, we’ve been dreaming about that for so long!! So grateful for the memories we’re making on this tour.”

Dessner also posted to Instagram, “Playing the Great War [sic] for the first time in Tampa….Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine getting to play a song for 80,000 people on acoustic guitar with @taylorswift eternally grateful for all the music we have made and your friendship.”

Dessner added for good measure, “The #TSTheErasTour is the greatest show I’ve ever seen!!!!!”

Swift has looked to be in good spirits despite her reported breakup from Joe Alwyn, the British actor she’d been dating for roughly six years. Entertainment Tonight broke the news on April 8.
