Dillon Brooks And Draymond Green Had A Weird Standoff After Their War Of Words This Week

Draymond Green and Dillon Brooks don’t appear to be on the same page. In advance of Thursday night’s nationally televised showdown between the Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum, Green and Brooklyn weren’t exactly shy in addressing each other through the media. Brooks kicked things off in an ESPN profile, downplaying any comparison to Green and dismissing his on-court impact. Shortly after, Green put together a response that referred to Brooks as an “idiot” and indicated Memphis wouldn’t be able to compete for a title with him in the mix.

Needless to say, there was a bit of extra attention on whether Green and Brooks would participate in any strangeness or antics during the game. Before halftime, they delivered, at least to an extent, with a bizarre standoff that was immediately turned into a meme.

Ultimately, this is not a serious incident, which is probably the preferred result when blending entertainment and a lack of truly impactful shenanigans. Still, the visual is quite funny, and the Grizzlies and Warriors will likely see plenty of each other as West playoff contenders, giving rise to the thought that Brooks and Green could be tangled up again in the near future.

Today, NBC shared a series of promos featuring Ortega alongside this week’s musical guest, The 1975, and SNL actor Bowen Yang.

“Hi! I’m Jenna Ortega, and I will be hosting SNL this week with musical guest, The 1975,” says Ortega in the clip, with a smile on her face.

Yang then asks, “What are you doing?”

Ortega replies, “I’m being upbeat. You know, I don’t want people to think I’m like my character, Wednesday.”

“Well cool it,” Yang says, “You’re freaking people out.” Yang then motions over to The 1975, and asks, “Are you guys freaked?”

On the February 24 episode, the prompt read “‘Who the baddest? It don’t matter ’cause we at your throat,’ This 3-letter guy raps on ‘Enemy,’ his collaboration with Imagine Dragons.” A fan, who was competing on the game show, swiftly responded “Who is JID?”

Death Row Records’ Catalog Will Finally Return To Music Streaming Platforms Tonight

After being removed from all digital streaming platforms last year, Death Row Records has announced that its legendary collection of hip-hop albums will once again be available for streaming tonight (March 9). The news arrives via an announcement on the label’s social media handles.

Among the classic Death Row albums are Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle, Tupac’s All Eyez On Me, and Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, the latter of which recently made a reappearance on DSPs. Much of the earlier Death Row projects were removed from streaming last year, following Snoop Dogg’s acquisition of the label.

Last year, in an interview on the Drink Champs podcast, Snoop revealed that he removed the masters after entertainment distributor eOne allegedly tried to pull him into a shady deal.

“They had the label, and for a year and a half two years I was trying to get my masters. All I wanted was Doggystyle. I was originally trying to say, ‘eOne, how can we work a deal where I can get my masters?’ Then Hasbro bought eOne so I was dealing with Hasbro and eOne. I was talking to eOne they were giving me the runaround so I said ‘Why don’t you let me come work for y’all so I can get my masters? I can blow your sh*t up make it go you can give me the Death Row Catalogue and let me get my masters’.”

The Death Row line-up will arrive to streaming platforms at 9 p.m. PST

Kevin Durant Will Miss At Least Three Weeks With A Sprained Ankle

A freak injury could end up costing Kevin Durant the rest of his regular season. Prior to the Phoenix Suns’ 132-101 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night, Durant slipped while going through warm-ups and rolled his ankle. While he was able to finish warming up for the game, it was eventually determined that Durant wouldn’t be able to play.

In the aftermath of the game, a report from Greg Moore of The Arizona Republic indicated that Durant might not be able to return during the regular season, as he left Footprint Center in a walking boot. That is, hopefully, not going to be the case as the team is looking to evaluate Durant in three weeks, as they announced on Thursday night.

A three-week absence, should he return immediately upon re-evaluation, would have Durant coming back at the end of March, just prior to the final week of the regular season.

Durant and T.J. Warren came to the Suns at the trade deadline from the Brooklyn Nets in a deal that saw Phoenix give up Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Jae Crowder, and a whole lot of draft capital. He has appeared in three games as a Sun and has looked to be a seamless fit alongside Deandre Ayton, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and co., as Durant has averaged 26.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game on 69 percent shooting from the field and 53.8 percent shooting from three.

Phoenix’s final regular season game will take place on April 9. The team is currently 37-29, good for fourth place in the Western Conference with a 3.5-game lead on the 7-seed.

Georgetown Has Parted Ways With Patrick Ewing After Six Seasons

When Patrick Ewing was hired as head coach of the Georgetown Hoyas, the hope was the school’s all-time leading scorer could bring the program back to prominence. However, after four middling years that saw one stunning run to a Big East Tournament title followed by a first round loss in the NCAA Tournament, the Hoyas have been one of the worst teams in high-major basketball, compiling a 13-51 record over the past two seasons — including a 2-37 record in Big East play.

After Georgetown was bounced from the Big East Tournament on Thursday by Villanova in an 80-48 loss at Madison Square Garden, the school made official what many anticipated, as Ewing was let go.

In his six seasons at the helm, Georgetown went 75-109, but the downward trajectory over the past two years was impossible to ignore. Whoever steps in to follow Ewing will come into a unique opportunity to build back a program with a rich legacy that has seemingly hit rock bottom, but what Georgetown’s ceiling is in this era of college basketball is likely much lower than what it once was. Still, fans of the Hoyas expect to be competitive in the Big East at the very least, and that wasn’t happening over the past two years, leading to a Georgetown legend’s ouster.

62-year-old rocks the same outfits as her 23-year-old daughter to show that ‘style has no age’

It feels like a safe bet to say that the phrase “fashion influencer on TikTok” instantly conveys an image of a young 20-something posting their latest shopping haul.

But just take it from 62-year-old fashionista Gym Tan—flair belongs to everyone, and it doesn’t have an expiration date.

As she shared in an article for Insider, Tan worked for around three decades in the fashion industry and had a genuine love for it. However, after moving from her home in Hong Kong to what she calls “casual California,” Tan put her career—and her passion—to the side.

Thanks to some encouragement from her 23-year-old daughter, Mya, Tan began posting videos of her “classic, understated” outfits to TikTok. At first, it was nothing more than a fun creative outlet. Little did either of them know that Tan would become an instant viral sensation.

“Within three weeks, I had around 10,000 followers, and last year, I started to pursue content creation full-time, having now built up a following of 140,000 people,” Tan told Insider.

And I mean, what’s not to love? From her effortless glam, to her adorable snap at the end of each video, this woman is a natural icon.

Things really took off after Tan posted a stitch while wearing the same form fitting black dress that a younger influencer wore. That video, which racked up 1.6 million views, also garnered a ton of praise.

Video below…and it’s 125% fabulous, if you ask me.

Inspired to spread the message that “style has no age,” Tan began posting videos with Mya showing off their matching outfits—from bikinis to sexy dresses to sweats and everything in between.

The best part? The response has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Nobody is telling me that I shouldn’t be dressing like that at my age, [it] has felt empowering in so many ways,” she shared, noting that she too had started to “feel insecure” as she approached 50—thanks in part to how societal beauty standards could make women feel “invisible” as they get older.

@californiaistoocasual daily reminder! style has no age #ageisjustanumber #styleatanyage #twinning #ootd #styleover50 ♬ If We Ever Broke Up – Mae Stephens

Social media of course plays its own hand in this collective shortcoming, what with the constant ebb and flow of contrasting beauty trends. (Are we in the thin eyebrow season or the thick eyebrow season? I seriously can’t keep up.) Not to mention the plethora of filters that make a person look so completely sculpted, ageless and otherwise enhanced that they are left feeling devastated to find any signs of life on their real face.

However, Tan credits much of her newfound confidence to the welcome she’s gotten on social media—and on a platform geared towards a younger generation, no less.

“TikTok is thought to be home to Gen Z users primarily, and I was a bit nervous at first about how younger users would treat me on the app. My daughter told me that TikTok loves older people, and I’ve definitely found that to be the case,” Tan recalled.

@californiaistoocasual Just wear what you love! #ootd #twinning #ageisjustanumber #stylesnap #stylehasnoage #styleinspo #attitude #momsoftiktok #momsover60 ♬ 24K Magic – Bruno Mars

Though people of all ages stop by Tan’s TikTok to enjoy her styles, her new sense of purpose is inspiring others to abandon the fear of aging.

“I hope to show them that they can continue to gain confidence in themselves and the way they look as they get older, just as I have,” she told Insider.

Masego Is A Journeyman Who Trusts The Music To Guide Him On His Savory Self-Titled Album

The RX is Uproxx Music’s stamp of approval for the best albums, songs, and music stories throughout the year. Inclusion in this category is the highest distinction we can bestow and signals the most important music being released throughout the year. The RX is the music you need, right now.

Masego’s approach to music has always been as smooth as the sweet symphonies that leave the end of his trademark saxophone. His cool demeanor has produced records as out-of-the-box as “Old Age,” as funky as “Girls That Dance,” and as flavorful as “Silver Tongue Devil.” With a smirk and the crack of a smile, Masego can step to the mic and do whatever he wants – successfully at that.

His 2018 debut album Lady Lady was a formal introduction to Masego the person. The 25-year-old singer at the time was full of youth which produced an album that portrayed his witty, flirtatious, and at times, tender-hearted persona. His 2020 project Studying Abroad balanced the highs and lows of love with a tropical backdrop that nearly distracted you from his qualms in romance. Nearly three years after that project’s release, Masego returned with his self-titled sophomore album which is a wonderful blend of the best elements in his discography. With Masego, the “Tadow” singer dances through the unfulfilled aspects of his life while also noting that music will always be the least of his worries.

Masego is the project I’ve always wanted from Masego. Though its 14 tracks have yet to exist in the world for more than a week, the elements that make up its full composition are so strong that when combined, it requires the “magnum opus” title to be bestowed upon it. Give it time and you’ll see that to be true. Studying Abroad is a body of work that resulted from Masego pushing himself out of his comfort zone to learn and experience new blends, tones, and so much more with music. Masego is the result of those learnings when combined with the sturdy foundation that Masego built upon to become the dazzling singer and instrumentalist that we know him to be today. If Lady Lady and Studying Abroad had a missing puzzle piece between them, Masego would be that piece.

This is evident through records like “You Never Visit Me” which combines elements of jazz and funk with the freeing feeling of riding in a convertible on a sunny day with your hands in the air. Its chorus is available for a fun call-and-response moment for an audience because of the changes in Masego’s tone throughout each line. Then there’s “Say You Want Me” which is steered by tropical drums and the same inspiration that blanketed Studying Abroad. It’s flavorful and tantalizing as Masego weaves through elements of afrobeats and dancehall to reel a woman into his bed after she knocked him off his seat. These warm records make up a slim percentage of the whole album, and it’s for that reason that they’re so refreshing and noteworthy when their turn comes on Masego.

Though the music isn’t a concern on Masego, nor is it for Masego himself, there is a bit of grappling that the singer is left to do in other areas of life. The failed reciprocation of love is the overbearing issue for Masego on his sophomore album. “You Play With My Heart” sounds like it’s set at a diner where Masego sits and dwells to no end about a woman who was unserious at best about loving him. Steam from a presumably hot drink floats to his face as he wearily sings about his latest qualms in romance. “You play you with my heart / I lay in the dark,” he croons. “You play with my heart / You were dancin’ with a star.” Moments before, Masego put his wit on display on “Afraid Of Water” for a double entendre that paints a shallow woman with nothing to offer beyond the surface as someone who can’t swim and fears the blue waters. Even when he does find someone suitable for himself, it ends with their departure and Masego’s disappointment as we see on “Down In The Dumps.” Car notes could’ve been paid and trips to Monte Carlo could’ve been taken, yet their premature exit – which has Masego in his feelings – has caused them to miss out on it all.

Right there, another aspect of Masego comes alive. The expectations Masego had for fame are far from reality. “Remembering Sundays” is a weary reflection of the days before the fame when serenity and tranquility were easier to come by. He doesn’t miss it per se, but his current lifestyle has made him more appreciative of it. His quarrels with fame spill into the combative “Who Cares Anyway” for a swing at the so-called tastemakers and critics that have misunderstood and attempted to box in the ever-so-diverse and genre-spanning singer. If you couldn’t tell that Masego is a man of music and nothing more, this record is proof of that. “I mean, yeah, we getting money / Yeah, we getting notoriety,” he quips. “But nowadays y’all looking real, real dumb / I had to say something.” Moments of appreciation for his position aren’t hard to find on Masego. “Sax Fifth Avenue” is a playful pun on “Saks Fifth Avenue” and a salute to his trustee saxophone that has earned him the attention that performing on Saks Fith Avenue could bring. As the album concludes, “In Style” opens the gates for a triumphant and sax-laden ode to the spotlight he currently stands in.

Masego spotlights the musician that is Masego. At nearly 30 years old, the singer is a seasoned journeyman who trusts the music to guide him to his destination. Sure, he’s still working to grasp the elusive concepts of dating and fame, but at least there’s something that can aid him in recognizing and expressing the successes and failures within it. While many use a self-titled project for their official introduction to the music world, Masego waited nearly a decade into his career to do that. There’s probably a good reason for that, but I’d have to guess that it has something to do with this being the perfect encapsulation of everything that makes Masego, Masego. So with every blare of the saxophone, croon of the voice, and witty lyrics, know that Masego has mastered the music, and evidence of that lives within the hypnotizing elements of Masego.

Masego is out now via EQT Recordings/Capitol Records. Find more information here.

‘Stranger Things’ Star Grace Van Dien Says She Is Taking A Break From Acting After Inappropriate Advances From A Movie Producer

After starring as Chrissy, the very meme-able cheerleader on Stranger Things, Grace Van Dien took a bit of a hiatus from acting, which is something a lot of young stars should consider doing.

But the actress, who hosts regular streams on Twitch, has opened up about the reason she has decided to take a step back from Hollywood, which is unfortunately due to some inappropriate sexual advances from an unnamed movie producer.

During a recent stream, Van Dien revealed that she has had her fair share of bad movie-making experiences that have led her to take some time off. “The fact of the matter is the last few projects I’ve worked on I didn’t have the best experiences. One of the last movies I did, one of the producers asked me to…he hired a girl he was sleeping with, then he had her ask me to have a threesome with them. So…like, that’s my boss.” While she didn’t name who the producer was or what movie she was working on, she has at least three in production at the moment.

Van Dien took to Twitter to clarify that she is going to prioritize working with the right people in the future:

This is just one of the many instances of producers being inappropriate on-set with their young actors, but hopefully talking about it will ensure that stars don’t end up in predatory situations when they are supposed to be in a workplace. Finally.

Seth Rogen was asked a question about being childless that men never get. His answer was honest.

Childless women in the public eye are often plagued by the question: “So, why don’t you have any children?” It’s a deeply personal question that cuts right to the bone, and there can be many answers. But, if the woman doesn’t want children and says so publicly, she is bound to face some judgment.

“[I don’t] like [the pressure] that people put on me, on women—that you’ve failed yourself as a female because you haven’t procreated. I don’t think it’s fair,” Jennifer Aniston told Allure. “You may not have a child come out of your vagina, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t mothering—dogs, friends, friends’ children.”

On the Monday, March 6 episode of “The Diary Of A CEO” podcast, host Steven Bartlett asked actor Seth Rogen about why he’s childless, and it was a rare moment where a man in the public eye was challenged on the topic. Rogen gave a thoughtful explanation for his and Lauren Miller’s decision to be child-free.

Rogen and Miller were married in 2011.

“There’s a whole huge thing I’m not doing, which is raising children,” Rogen told Bartlett. The host attempted to play devil’s advocate and asked Rogen if he considered whether having children might have made him and his wife “happier.”

“I don’t think it would,” Rogen responded.

Then, as if anticipating the question, the “Pineapple Express” star upended one of the arguments that people who have children often make: that people who don’t have children have no idea what it’s like.

“I’ve been around obviously a lot of children; I’m not ignorant to what it’s like…Everyone I know has kids. I’m 40, you know? I know,” Rogen said. “Some of my friends have had kids for decades. Some people want kids, some people don’t want kids.”

He added that many people seem to have kids without considering the issue.

“I mean, a lot of people have kids before they even think about it, from what I’ve seen, honestly,” he said. “You just are told, you go through life, you get married, you have kids—it’s what happens.”

Rogen and his wife have only grown stronger in their decision and they believe that it has helped their relationship.

“Now, more than anything, the conversation is like, ‘Honestly, thank God we don’t have children,’” he continued. “We get to do whatever we want.”

“We are in the prime of our lives. We are smarter than we’ve ever been, we understand ourselves more than we ever have, we have the capacity to achieve a level of work and a level of communication and care for one another, and a lifestyle we can live with one another that we’ve never been able to live before. And we can just do that, and we don’t have to raise a child—which the world does not need right now,” Rogen concluded.

Everyone has the right to choose whether or not to have children, and no one has the right to judge them. Rogen and Miller have thought their decision through and should be applauded for living how they see fit. It’s cool to see Rogen with such a thoughtful opinion on the matter. It’d be even cooler if celebrities never had to discuss the topic in the first place.
