Reason Announces New Project, ‘No More, No Less: Demo 1,’ With Wale, Isaiah Rashad, And More

A little over a year after he released his debut album, New Beginnings, Reason is gearing up for a new release a new project. On Tuesday, the California-bred rapper revealed his next effort, No More, No Less: Demo 1, will arrive on October 29 and will feature appearances from Wale, Adé, Doe Boy, labelmates Isaiah Rashad and Zacari, as well as Griselda’s Benny The Butcher. Reason described the project as “a small collection of thoughts and moments that I’ve been asked for repeatedly,” adding that it’s “something I wanted to give to y’all in the meantime. Love y’all, and see you soon!”

After Reason announced the project, he apologized to fans on Twitter for making them wait for new music. “Apologize to y’all for taking so long,” he said. “Won’t happen again unless it’s purposeful.” Honestly, a year isn’t that long of a wait for a new project from artists. In fact, New Beginnings arrived two years after his previous project, There You Have It, which was released in late 2018.

Reason recently appeared in Isaiah Rashad’s music for “Chad” which features YGTUT and appears on Rashad’s album The House Is Burning.

Netflix’s ‘Cowboy Bebop’ Adaptation Gets A Jazzy, Snappy Trailer, And Even An F-Bomb

Things have been going pretty swimmingly for Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop adaptation. Its lovingly recreated opening credit sequence turned heads. People lost their minds over star John Cho’s lustrous hair. Danielle Pienda, the show’s resident Faye Valentine, had to deal with some sexist fans, but she handled them with witty aplomb. And now there’s its jazzy, snappy official, full-length trailer, which comes replete with dynamic camerawork and editing, as well as an f-bomb dropped into an overly PG-13 world.

The ad, dropped during a Netflix livestream event Tuesday night, sticks close to the original. It, too, finds Cho’s protagonist relating his death-defying adventures to his friend Ana (Tamara Tunie). “If you need to find me, I go by Spike Spiegel these days,” he says.

What follows is some good old fashioned space cruising, with Spike teaming up with Mustafa Shakir’s Jet Black to make a killing bounty hunting. Soon Faye joins them as a reluctant — and often pugilistic — partner. You also see glimpses of other characers: the Teddy Bomber, smuggler Katerina Solensan, and experiment-gone-wrong Pierrot le Fou, the latter a reference to the French New Wave classic by Jean-Luc Godard.

It’s not just fan service that’s been offered up. The series looks more “cinematic” than almost every TV show on right now, with elaborate camera moves, split-screen, and a jazzy score that summons late-night music sessions. More TV should be this stylish.

You can watch the trailer in the video above. Cowboy Bebop hits Netflix on November 19.

Alicia Keys Announces Her Upcoming Double Album, ‘Keys,’ With Production From Mike Will Made-It

It’s been a little over a year since Alicia Keys released her seventh album, Alicia, which featured appearances from Sampha, Sir, Tierra Whack, Miguel, Khalid, Snoh Aalegra, and more. That album’s release was delayed due to the pandemic, but the singer is hoping the same doesn’t happen to her next album, Keys, which will be a sequel-of-sorts to her other 2020 release.

Keys noted that the upcoming project would be a double album, with Side A featuring “laidback piano vibes” that she produced herself and Side B featuring an “upbeat, drums & level Up” sound produced by Mike Will Made-It. She did not share a release date for the album, but the hope is that it arrives much sooner than later.

News of another Alicia Keys album comes after Resort To Love, a Netflix film she produced. It starred fellow 2000s pop fixture Christina Milian and it tells the story of a singer who gets booked for her ex’s wedding, only to end up falling in love and stealing him away from his soon-to-be wife.

Lauren Boebert Released A Carefully Worded Response To The Report That She Was Involved In The Jan. 6 Rally, And Few Are Buying It

On Sunday, Rolling Stone dropped an explosive report. Three sources — all Republican organizers, all cooperating with the bipartisan Jan. 6 committee — named names of those who’d been involved in rallies leading up to the Capitol siege. It was the usual suspects, including representatives such as Marjorie Taylor Green, Lauren Boebert, Mo Brooks, Madison Cawthorn, etc. At first, those implicated kept stum. Eventually Greene called BS. So did Brooks, who blamed his staff instead. Boebert did, too, but few, save her die-hards, are buying it.

While Greene denounced the report in an interview, Boebert went formal. She posted a lengthy, carefully worded statement denying the allegations.

“Let me be clear,” Boebert wrote, seemingly invoking one of former president Barack Obama’s most famous catchphrases. “I had no role in the panning or execution of any even that took place at the Capitol or anywhere in Washington, D.C. on January 6th.” She claimed she had “accepted an invitation to speak at one event but ultimately did not speak at any events on January 6th.”

She added, “Once again, the media is acting as a messaging tool for the radical left. The left falsely accused me of giving a reconnaissance tour. In reality, I was visiting the Capitol with my family.” She claimed Rolling Stone “was grasping at straws” by “using anonymous sources and shoddy reporting to attack me. Thank you, next.”

Like Greene, Boebert didn’t seem to understand how reporting works, especially concerning sensitive topics such as this. Not only is it commonplace to use anonymous sources when necessary, the report went out of its way to explain why they weren’t naming their names.

Besides, there were plenty of receipts pertaining to Boebert’s involvement. She was active on Twitter that day, tweeting out, “Today is 1776.” Later, after former president Trump’s supporters had breached the Capitol building, forcing all congresspeople and their staff to rush into hiding, she actually tweeted the locations of certain colleagues, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

As such, few were buying what Boebert claimed.

Still, maybe she is innocent to a degree. As one person pointed out, she doesn’t seem smart enough to mastermind an insurrection, even a failed one like the one on Jan. 6.

Of course, Boebert may be invited to elaborate, should the committee subpoena her and others named in the report. And it doesn’t sound like ignoring it is going to work.

Bruce Springsteen Plays ‘The River’ Solo On Colbert And Details A New Concert Film

As soon as the new year hit, we reported on Bruce Springsteen’s “big surprise” for fans this year. Now it’s all coming to fruition.

Months ago, The Boss announced his Renegades: Born In The USA podcast with Barack Obama, and now a book about those conversations is out today. Last night on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Springsteen dropped in to chat and play a song. They spoke about the book, but also about the upcoming Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band concert film/album entitled The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts. The never-before-seen recording came from the 1979 No Nukes benefit show, which also featured Jackson Browne, Chaka Khan, Tom Petty, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, and others. The E Street band played two 90-minute sets, including one on Springsteen’s 30th birthday and the footage from the latter, which took place at Madison Square Garden, is in the film.

A clip played on the Colbert show of the film’s encore song, in which the gregarious Springsteen toys with the crowd, who are imploring for another song. “I can’t go on like this. I’m 30 years old! My heart’s starting to go on me!” he joked before telling them that, “I don’t want you to beg,” while beckoning them to do exactly that and then immediately exploding into the encore with “A Quarter To Three.”

But there was more than just conversation on with Colbert. After they spoke, Springsteen took to the stage by himself to play an impassioned version of his 1980 song “The River” and it was, well…breathtaking. “It’s a song I wrote when I was that young man. Weeks or months before that show,” he told Colbert. “It’s really the beginning of certain kind of my narrative writing ,which led to a record I wrote called Nebraska, another record I wrote called Ghost of Tom Joad and Devils & Dust.”

Watch the video of Bruce Springsteen performing “The River” above.

The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts film and album will be released digitally on 11/16/2022, physical on 11/19/2022, and on digital rental on 11/23/2022. Pre-order it here.

SZA And TDE’s Punch Slam A Photographer Who Released Photoshoot Pictures Of The Singer Without Her Consent

SZA and TDE’s President Terrence “Punch” Henderson aired out their grievances with a photographer who they allege released photos of the singer without their permission. SZA first brought the matter to the attention of her followers on Twitter, writing in a post, “Releasing pictures of me w out my consent is scary . Y’all be careful working w folk u don’t know well .”

One person asked if her message was in regards to photos of her in a blue bikini that recently appeared on social media. SZA confirmed that this was true, replying, “He literrally text me [and] said ‘sorry if u never wanna work w me again but I decided I’m releaseing these.’” She added, “Never felt more powerless or disrespected.”

Punch later called out the photographer directly after he failed to get in contact with him. “Anybody know this dude @Edwiggery ?” he wrote. “This man leaked a whole photo shoot of SZA WITHOUT permission. Now he’s not responding.”

The photographer addressed the issue in a tweet of his own. “Definitely not doing anything for clout, there’s so much more to this than you guys know, I’m not a bad person,” he tweeted. “I’m not arguing with anyone on social media. Never have, never will. And please stop sending death threats [prayer hands emoji].” Punch caught wind of his message and replied, “And you still got the post up on ig?? You doing this wrong champ. I promise you you’re doing this the wrong way.”

The picture of SZA remains up on the photographer’s page, and upon viewing it, a disappointing comment from SZA can be seen. “I begged u not to post these,” she wrote.

Three grown-up brothers create  the most epic Halloween photos ever with their baby sister

Two of Patti Schmidt’s three sons were already well into adulthood when her daughter Avery was born, and the third wasn’t far behind them. Avery, now 5, has never had the pleasure of close-in-age sibling squabbles or gigglefests, since Larry, Patrick, and Gavin are 28, 26, and 22, respectively—but that doesn’t mean they don’t bond as a family.

According to, Patti calls her sons home to Point Pleasant, New Jersey, every fall for a special Halloween photoshoot with Avery. And the results are nothing short of epic.

The Schmidt family started the tradition in 2017 with the boys dressing as the tinman, the scarecrow, and the cowardly lion from “The Wizard of Oz.” Avery, just a toddler at the time, was dressed as Dorothy, complete with adorable little ruby slippers.

The following year, the boys were Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca, and Avery was (of course) Princess Leia.

In 2019, they did a “Game of Thrones” theme. (“My husband and I were binge-watching (Game of Thrones), and I thought the boys as dragons would be so funny,” Schmidt told TODAY.)

In 2020, they went as Princess Buttercup, Westley, Inigo Montoya, and Fezzik from “The Princess Bride.”

Patti shared a video montage of each year’s costume shoot—with accompanying soundtracks—on Instagram and TikTok. Watch:

“They laugh a lot during the shoots,” Patti told People. “The boys are good sports. They adore Avery.”

That much is clear. How lucky is this little girl?

Middle son Patrick, who is a professional surfer, told People “It’s fun, and Avery has a blast.”

Patti is the one who comes up with the theme, which she surprises the kids with. This year’s theme remains a mystery, though she asked followers for ideas. People offered some fun possibilities including:

– Goldilocks and the three bears

– “Alice in Wonderland,” with the boys going as the white rabbit, the Mad Hatter, and the doormouse

– “Brave,” with Avery going as Merida and the boys as her little brothers

– “Sleeping Beauty” with the boys going as the fairy godmothers

– Frankenstein’s Bride, Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolfman

– “Friends” with Avery going as Phoebe and the boys as Ross, Chandler, and Joey

– “Guardians of the Galaxy”

– “Harry Potter”

Patti offered one vague clue for what this Halloween holds when she told TODAY, “There may or may not be a good-natured groan or two when I pull out the next theme.” Hoo boy, can’t wait to see what it is.

And yes, in case you were wondering, the brother dressed as Westley did yell “As you wish!” as he rolled down the hill.

And no, the boys and Avery don’t just get together for Halloween. The boys and Avery do all kinds of things together, which Patti shares on her TikTok page.

“They are close despite not only age differences but physical distance,” Schmidt told TODAY. “Our two oldest sons live in different states, but they’re within driving distance, and I try to get everyone together as much as possible.”

Here they are teaching Avery how to skateboard:

While walking his daughter down the aisle, dad pulls her stepdad from the crowd to join them

A touching video is going viral on TikTok because it shows an amazing act of gratitude and selflessness. Photographer Kelsey Griffith posted a video from her wedding that has a twist. As her and her father approach the altar, her dad holds out his hand and invites her stepfather to join them the rest of the way.

Kelsey captioned her video: “My dad surprised my stepdad by including him in our walk down the aisle.”

It’s pretty clear from the video the stepfather didn’t know about the surprise. It appears as though he thinks the father is extending his arm for a handshake before he pulls him towards the aisle.

Here’s a video of the moment taken from behind.

My dad surprised my step dad by including him in our walk down the aisle🤍 #theperfectday #fyp #wedding #dancingqueen

Here’s what it looked like from the altar. If you listen carefully you can hear someone mutter, “That’s very sweet,” in the background.

Reply to @meaganbylski a different perspective from our amazing videographer @maxbernardweddingvideos

“This is what happens when a parent loves his child with complete unselfishness,” one person wrote in the comments, and it’s true. Fathers wait their entire lives for the moment they get to walk their daughters down the aisle. To share that moment with another man shows that he put his daughter above everything.

It can’t be easy to watch your child being raised by another man, but instead of being selfish, he showed how grateful he was to have him in their lives.

Another commenter thought it was a great example for all divorced parents to follow. “If this doesn’t serve as a lesson to all divorced and or additional parents, I don’t know what does,” they wrote. “Congrats to all of you. More parents could learn!”

The story is reminiscent of one that Upworthy covered six years ago. In 2015, father-of-the-bride Todd Bachmann was walking his daughter down the aisle when he grabbed his daughter’s step dad, Todd Cendrosky, and the three walked down the aisle together.

The moment was powerful for Cendrosky who immediately broke into tears.

“[Brittany’s biological father] came and grabbed my hand, and said: ‘You worked as hard as I have. You’ll help us walk our daughter down the aisle,'” Cendrosky said according to USA Today. “I got weak in the knees and lost it. Nothing better in my life, the most impactful moment in my life.”

Bachmann posted a beautiful photo of him taking Cendrosky by the hand and it went viral on Facebook with over 12 million views.

Image by Delia D Blackburn, used with permission.

“It hasn’t always been peaches and cream, by any stretch of the imagination,” Bachmann later said. “There’s no better way to thank somebody than to assist me walking my — walking OUR daughter — down the aisle.”

One of the most important qualities a parent must have is selflessness. It’s impossible to be a good parent without having the ability to put other people’s needs first. These dads have certainly passed the test by showing they can put others first on one of the most important moments of their lives.

Watch the founder of Spanx surprise 500+ employees with first-class plane tix and $10K each

It all started with a pair of white pants.

Sara Blakely was getting ready for a party in 1998 and couldn’t find a pair of undies that looked smooth under her white pants. So she took a pair of scissors to a pair of control-top pantyhose and ended up creating the first rendition of what would become her billion-dollar business idea.

Just two years later, Blakely’s Spanx undergarment brand was being touted on Oprah’s Favorite Things list. Twelve years after that, Blakely graced the cover of Forbes as the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire.

Not too shabby for a woman who sold fax machines door-to-door before some unsightly panty lines drastically shifted her life.

After founding Spanx with just $5000 of her own money, Blakely, now 50, just sold the majority stake in the business to investment firm Blackstone, with a valuation of $1.2 billion. Blakely isn’t leaving or anything—she retains a significant share of the company, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and will become executive chairwoman once the transaction closes.

“This is a really important moment in time for female entrepreneurs,” Blakely said of the deal in a press release. “I started this company with no business experience and very little money, but I cared the most about the customer, and that gave me the courage to launch the company.”

Blakely also cares about her employees. Every conscientious businessperson understands that you can’t grow a successful company without hard-working employees, but not every businessperson generously rewards the people who help build and maintain their success. Blakely does, however. Upon selling part of the company, she decided to share some of the wealth she gained with the 500+ people she employs.

“When I first started this company, I wrote down one goal,” Blakely said in a video posted on her Instagram account. “I said this company will one day be worth 20 million dollars. And everybody laughed at me.”

Blakely explained that Spanx had created success using “very feminine principles in a masculine space, which is business,” which include leading with intuition and vulnerability. Then, after toasting the women who came before her and those who have not had the opportunity she’s had, Blakely announced a surprise.

“This is a very big moment for each and every one of you,” she said. “To celebrate this moment, I have bought each one of you two first-class tickets to anywhere in the world.”

She also gave each employee $10,000 to spend wherever those tickets take them.

“I really want every employee to celebrate this moment in their own way and create a memory that will last them a lifetime! Cheers to 21 years of magic and many more to come,” Blakely wrote on Instagram.

Talk about taking care of your employees. Phew.

According to the AJC, Blackstone will be leaving Spanx’s executive management team in place. There is also a joint plan to create an all-female board of directors as the company grows.

Blakely’s mission has been “to help women feel great about themselves and their potential,” and she has used Spanx’s success to help elevate women. The company’s website highlights the female founders of companies and organizations bettering the lives of women around the world, and Spanx uses a portion of its products’ proceeds to support their work.

The Spanx by Sara Blakely Foundation has also donated $5 million to boost female entrepreneurship. In partnership with GlobalGiving, the foundation established The Red Backpack Fund to help small woman-owned businesses, giving more than 1,000 female entrepreneurs a gift of $5,000—the exact amount Sara Blakely started Spanx with 20 years ago.

Congratulations to Sara Blakely for hitting yet another entrepreneurial milestone in an incredible self-made career, and congrats to her employees for being rightly rewarded for building her company’s success.

Definitely more of this, please.

‘The Black Neighborhood’ Is An Organization That Builds Up Its Community From Within

With the rise and reach of social media, it’s never been easier to show support to people in need. Whether you’re offering up your money, your time, or other resources to support a worthy cause, our increasingly online lifestyles have made it easy to share information and spread a message. Still, even in this modern age, nobody can respond to the needs of a community quite like the people living in it. Eyes and ears on the ground are still essential.

That belief is the main ethos behind the organization The Black Neighborhood — a 501c-3 operating out of California and New York.

“Community engagement and being part of your community has always been significant for us,” says Black Neighborhood founding member Cory Elliot. “That’s a part of survival, that’s a part of us trying to build, knowing who your neighbors are, and supporting them when nobody else will.”

Along with co-founders Bryce Savoy and Uzo Nwadugbo, Elliot and The Black Neighborhood are showing up for their communities in the way that only people who live and breathe a neighborhood can. Through grocery giveaways, youth empowerment programs, financial support, and other community-building efforts, The Black Neighborhood offers vital resources and wisdom to the next generation coming up.

“We didn’t know what we were doing was irregular,” Nwadugbo explains. “I remember the first time going home for a funeral, my freshman year at college and my professor almost crying to me… it’s like, I go to a funeral almost every year… it’s just something that’s so ingrained and normal from a young age. Now looking back, especially doing the work that we do, we get the opportunity to sit back and see not only the trauma it caused but how we can deter people from going through the same thing.”

To learn more about The Black Neighborhood and how they’re actively creating the change they want to see in the Black communities of Los Angeles, catch the latest episode of the Uproxx series, Show Up in the video above.
