Gucci Mane has always had an ear for talent, from shepherding the early careers of Atlanta trap fixtures like Waka Flocka Flame and OJ Da Juiceman to lending his co-sign to some of hip-hop’s biggest talents, including 2 Chainz, Migos, Mulatto, and Nicki Minaj. He bet big on this ability last year, signing a new label deal with Atlantic Records to launch The New 1017, a label venture providing a home for his new signees, Foogiano, Ola Runt, and Pooh Shiesty.
The latter is ready now to strike out on his own after several star turns on the group’s debut compilation, So Icy Summer, putting out a video for “Guard Up” last month teasing more to come. Today, he shared the tracklist for his debut mixtape, Shiesty Season, as well as a new song, “Neighbors” featuring Big30. The Memphis native offers up his take on the trap rap staples of choppers, racks, and work, boasting that he keeps his gun closer than a neighbor and threatening anyone “talking gangster on the net.”
Appearing on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music Radio show to premiere the new song, Shiesty notified fans what to expect from the debut. “You getting big Shiest on this mixtape,” he said. “I’m touching on all categories. Expect me getting versatile. It’s lit. You can expect some big features, shooting a video to every song on there. We’re going all the way up.” Of signing to Gucci’s label, he mused, “He put me on game about everything, tighten me up on every category. He got my work done. He got me being able to record done…showed me a couple things. He just go. He done been through everything, so he know.”

The Kansas City Chiefs will not depart for Tampa until Saturday, opting to remain at home to prepare during Super Bowl week given the lack of on-site demands due to COVID-19 protocols.
The Chiefs already knew they’d be without the services of star left tackle Eric Fischer for the Super Bowl after he suffered an Achilles injury in the AFC title game, but two more players, receiver DeMarcus Robinson and backup center Daniel Kilgore, are in the league’s health and safety protocols currently due to contact tracing stemming from a barber the team brought in who tested positive.
The #Chiefs have placed C Daniel Kilgore and WR Demarcus Robinson on the COVID-19 reserve list, but neither player is a positive case, source said. If they keep testing negative, both should play in the Super Bowl.

The barber had apparently tested negative for five straight days but an inconclusive test from a close contact required a day of test to be cleared. For some reason, he was allowed to get one and a half cuts in before that test came back, with a positive result, and he was pulled while cutting Kilgore’s hair, as the Chiefs very well dodged a major incident with 20 players, including Patrick Mahomes, scheduled to get a cut from him that day.

It is a reminder that negative tests do not automatically mean a person will stay negative, and one would’ve thought we would have learned by now that you at least need to wait for that day’s test to come back, no matter what previous tests have shown, before you let someone into the facility. For now, Robinson and Kilgore have been testing negative and should that continue all week, they would be able to play. That will hopefully continue to happen and, of lesser importance but still, to him, probably important, hopefully Kilgore has been able to get that half of a haircut fixed. He at least has a good sense of humor about the situation.

This Belgian-style ale has a great banana-like yeast flavor that reminds us of a good Saison. It’s effervescent, sweet, and has a nice hoppy, floral backbone.
Bottom Line:
The folks at Allagash know beer. If they’re looking for a unique take on the organic beer, fans of the Maine brewery should grab a few cans of this offering.
Few breweries make organic beers better than Peak Organic. One of the brand’s best brews is Super Fresh. This dry-hopped pilsner lives up to its name with fresh, thirst-quenching, ripe citrus flavors.
Tasting Notes:
This beer is big, bold, and filled with flavor. What begins as a light, refreshing pilsner is ramped up with the addition of citrus and piney dry hops. It’s juicy, sweet, and filled with tropical fruit notes.

Peak Organic has been making organic beers for years and you honestly can’t go wrong with anything they put out. If you want a beer bursting with fresh, citrus flavor, this is a winner.

In the beer community, Fremont is a big name. It’s known for its high-quality brews and Cowiche Canyon is no exception. This IPA was brewed with organic malts and Citra and Simcoe hops, giving it a nice malt backbone with a zesty, floral finish.

This well-balanced beer starts with a nice, rich, malt presence that is tempered with fresh, citrusy, resinous, floral hops. It’s vibrant, sweet, and highly crushable.

Proving that there’s much more to Fremont than barrel-aged beers, Cowiche Canyon is bright, flavorful, and filled with citrus and tropical fruit flavors.
This highly coveted beer is a blend of different aged lambics. These lambics range in ages from one to three years. They’re aged in oak casks before being blended together to make Cantillon Gueuze.
Tasting Notes:
This isn’t a beer for everyone. It takes an advanced palate to embrace the dry, subtle fresh berry, and acidic flavors that are featured here. The taste also ends with a nice kick of wood.
Bottom Line:
Buy more than one bottle of Cantillon Gueuze. Crack one open and enjoy it now and put the other one in your cellar for extra bottle conditioning.
Anyone who spends time hiking or camping knows all about outdoor brand Patagonia. You might not know the company has an offshoot called Patagonia Provisions. It collaborated with Hopworks to create Long Root Ale made with organic barley, yeast, and hops. It also contains kernza grain (widely known as intermediate wheatgrass).

This unique, barrel-aged wheat ale begins with flavors reminiscent of sparkling white wine but moves into notes of citrus zest, oak, sweet vanilla, and a nice, crisp, tart finish.
Bottom Line:
Good luck finding a bottle of this offering. If you do, you’ll likely have to pay a crazy amount of money. Your best bet to get this or one of the brewery’s other offerings is to take a trip to Vermont for a post-pandemic visit.
This is a German beer with USDA certification. Made in the 19th-century style, Pinkus Organic Ur-Pilsner is made using only organic hops and malts. It’s a simple production process in the traditional manner.
Tasting Notes:
This light, pale pilsner is crisp, dry, and extremely well-balanced. It’s full of fresh hops and rich malts. A highly drinkable, smooth, refreshing pilsner.
Bottom Line:
When you taste the clean, crisp flavor of Pinkus Organic Ur-Pilsner, you won’t want to go back to your mass-produced, chemically enhanced pilsners and lagers.

Tacoma FD: Season 2 (HBO) — The Broken Lizard comedy troupe returns with this hit TruTV comedy series about a true mess of a firefighting group with outlandish exploits that rival that of Reno 911 and Super Troopers.
Riverdale (CW, 8:00pm) — The gang’s staring down Graduation Day and wondering what will come after, and Archie doesn’t even know if he’ll be walking the stage with his classmates.
Nancy Drew (CW, 8:00pm) — Tiffany’s corpse is being moved for a private autopsy, which sends Nancy on an extra risky mission.

Rowling) and follows a London-based private detective who investigates the most complex cases with the help of his military training. The Little Things (HBO Max film) — Three Oscar winners headline a film that’s mostly landing on streaming (there are few limited theaters in the mix), so thank goodness for the Internet during pandemic times. The movie stars Denzel Washington and Rami Malek as police officers hunting a 1990s-era serial killer in Los Angeles. (Yep, Denzel is playing a cop again! You can’t hate on that.) Their prime suspect is portrayed by Jared Leto, and this is a tale of overarching obsession and secrets that are best left uncovered.
Penguin Bloom (Netflix film) — Naomi Watts (Samantha) and Andrew Lincoln (Cameron) star in this story about a family who holidays in Thailand when tragedy strikes. Sam falls off a rooftop and ends up paralyzed, which sends her lifelong outdoorswoman status flailing. She falls into a depression that makes her question her whole identity, and when her children bring home wounded baby bird (that they call “Penguin”), the process of healing and hope begins for both bird and human family.
During a fiery new interview, Zack Snyder blasted “fakers” who have been calling the decision to release his director’s cut of Justice League (a.k.a. The Snyder Cut) as a “win for toxic fandom,” along with those who have questioned to question whether the cut even existed before HBO Max announced it was dropping at least $30 million on restoring the original film. According to Snyder, he’s been advised not to engage with any of his critics, but if he did, he promises it would not be pretty. Via CinemaBlend:
“Those are people that I’ve been held back from confronting, by wiser people in the room. Because I’d love to get at some of these characters. Some direct conversation would be nice. Just to say, one, you don’t know sh*t about what you’re talking about. And we can break down everything they’ve ever [said]. I can make a list. As for claims that his fans are “toxic” and that releasing the Justice League cut was a “win” for their allegedly abusive behavior, Snyder was having none of it and cited his fanbase’s recent work raising money for suicide prevention. “How is that toxic fandom?” Snyder asked. “They’ve probably achieved more than any other fan base, [and done more] good than any other group.”
Concerns that giving in to the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign would “set a bad precedent” were raised immediately after Snyder announced the news in May 2020. Not even two weeks later, HBO Max chief Tony Goncalves had to address the issue during an interview with The Verge, to which he downplayed concerns. “Consumers have never had more choice, and they’ve never had more of a voice,” Gonvales said. “But that doesn’t mean that we will go and invest our dollars in every single fandom that exists.”

The British teen series launched the careers of a few of Hollywood’s most talented stars, three of whom were nominated for a Golden Globe this morning: Nicholas Hoult (Tony) for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for The Great; Daniel Kaluuya (Posh Kenneth) for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for Judas and the Black Messiah; and Dev Patel (Anwar) for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for The Personal History of David Copperfield. Those three have been killing it for years — Hoult in Mad Max: Fury Road; Kaluuya in Get Out and Widows; and Patel in Slumdog Millionaire — but there are other non-Globes nominated cast members with strong careers, as well.
Joe Dempsie (Chris) and Hannah Murray (Cassie) were in Game of Thrones as Gendry and Gilly, respectively, while Aimee-Ffion Edwards (Sketch) has appeared in episodes of Luther, Peaky Blinders, and Detectorists. April Pearson (Michelle) is an independent filmmaker, Kaya Scodelario (Effy, the second generation lead) was in The Maze Runner movies and scored the main role in the upcoming Resident Evil reboot, and the Wikipedia for Mike Bailey (Sid) notes that he “still wears glasses,” which is cool. Also, The Crown great Olivia Colman, nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama, was in a third-gen cast episode, so she kinda counts, too.

Research shows that Instagram can have a terrible influence on users’ self-image, especially young girls. Spending hours a day scrolling through pictures of people who look great and are living what appears to be a perfect life can lead to “a lot of self-doubt, self-hate, body image issues.”
This comparison trap leads to feelings of inadequacy which, in turn, can cause depression and anxiety. Some researchers attribute the massive increase in teen suicides over the past decade to social media sites such as Instagram.
The terrible thing is that most of these influencer images have been altered by Photoshop and filters. So the beauty standards presented in the photos are nearly impossible to attain. And, most of the time, the lives the influencers appear to be living are little more than an illusion paid for by a makeup company.
Lawmakers in the UK have taken a big step towards making it harder for people to fall into the comparison trap by banning the use of beauty filters in posts that promote skincare products or cosmetics.
That’s a huge move being that cosmetic companies spend millions on Instagram advertising every year. According to Forbes, Maybelline spends 60% of its social media ad dollars on Instagram with Sephora spending 43%, and Estee Lauder, 46%.
The decision was made by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and it applies to all brands, influencers, and celebrities based in the UK.
“An ongoing focus of our work in this area continues to be on raising awareness of the rules and supporting influencers with the guidance and tools they need to help get their ads right,” an ASA spokesperson said.
“We’re also working closely with the social media platforms who can and will enforce our rulings where an advertiser is unwilling or able to work with us,” the spokesperson continued.
The decision not only encourages marketers on the platform to present more realistic images of beauty, but it also prevents people from purchasing products that don’t work. Using a special effect to show how the efficacy of a product is false advertising.
So now, UK consumers won’t be fooled by seeing flawless, unrealistic-looking skin. Instead, they can see how the product actually works on people who have skin like themselves.
The ban was inspired by the work of makeup artist Sasha Pallari, who started the #FilterDrop campaign in the hope of seeing “more real skin” on Instagram.
“I feel like the detrimental effect this is having on social media users has finally been taken seriously and this is a huge step in the right direction for how filters are used and the way cosmetics are advertised online,” she told the BBC.
“I can now help make a difference to how these women view themselves in the mirror and that’s amazing,” she continued.
All eyes were on Tierra Whack after she released her groundbreaking debut 2018 project Whack World, which boasted fifteen tracks all clocking in at exactly one minute. Whack was shortly thereafter inducted into the 2019 XXL Freshman Class and fans began hoping for a full-length follow up. Instead, Whack has spent the last year releasing stand-alone singles, parodying Planet Fitness gym instructors, and blessing her followers with the occasional freestyle. Whack has now returned to once again showcase her lyrical abilities with yet another hard-hitting freestyle.
On Wednesday, Whack posted a clip of her reworking Ludacris’ 2003 track “Stand Up” to Instagram. Positioning herself as a clever wordsmith over the bass-heavy beat, Whack rapped: “Ain’t no checking me / Unless you got a check for me / I ain’t for longevity / You just better be doing better than me / Especially because you boast the negativity regularly.”
After posting the impressive clip, Whack received praise from her musical contemporaries in the comments. Artists like Jessie Reyez, Flying Lotus, Tessa Violet, and many more all commended the artist for her breath control, creativity, and animated delivery.
The last we heard from Tierra Whack was last November when the rapper released the single “Feel Good.” Whack said the song was born out of reflecting on her success and telling herself that she needs to practice being more present.

Now, some of Wallen’s country music peers have spoken out against him. Maren Morris offered a tweet that was a response to country fans who insist that Wallen’s behavior isn’t representative of Nashville, as she wrote, “It actually IS representative of our town because this isn’t his first ‘scuffle’ and he just demolished a huge streaming record last month regardless. We all know it wasn’t his first time using that word. We keep them rich and protected at all costs with no recourse.”
She also responded to a tweet from songwriter/producer Bonnie J. Baker, which read, “if a female artist did 5% of the sh*t he has pulled she would be dropped immediately by everyone.” Morris added, “yup. we’d be dropped, endorsements lost, social pariahs to music row…” Morris’ tweets, by the way, were posted before Wallen’s label revealed the contract suspension.

Kelsea Ballerini also weighed in on the situation, with her initial reaction being a tweet that reads, “The news out of Nashville tonight does not represent country music.” Another user replied, “This might not be YOU. It may not be country artists YOU associate with. But not acknowledging that this DOES exists, in spades in the genre, allows people to wash their hands of trying to get it fixed.” Ballerini responded with gratitude by acknowledging the person’s point: “I hear you, and absolutely acknowledge this…thank you.”

I question on a daily basis as to why I continue to fight to be in an industry that seems to hate me so much. But then I realize there is a new artist of color, all bright eyed and excited to be in this industry.
I love country music so much. There are amazing people in this genre behind the scenes and in front of the cameras that have kept me sane all these years. Those are the people we must keep reminding ourselves are out there and worth supporting and listening to.
UK musician Nilüfer Yanya made a big splash with her debut album Miss Universe, which landed on Uproxx’s Best Albums Of 2019 list. Yanya has since gone on to play festivals, tour the world, and secure a spot on NPR’s Tiny Desk series. In 2020, Yanya followed up her album’s release with a three track EP, which she now showcases with a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Backed by a full band, Yanya gives a playful rendition of her Feeling Lucky? track “Crash.” Yanya took center stage positioned in front of colorful blocks and mood lighting to deliver the revved-up anthem.
Ahead of her EP’s release, Yanya described the inspiration behind her project. “One of the songs had the theme of luck in it as a concept, but then I realized they all do,” she said. “That got me thinking about luck in general; good and bad. Things out of our control and things in control of us, how often we put acts and happenings down to the fortune of good luck or bad luck when things exceed our expectations or don’t go according to plan.”
