Raylan Givens Takes His Swagger (And Hat) To Detroit In A ‘Justified: City Primeval’ Teaser (With An Official Release Date)

After plenty of speculation about a release date, FX has finally announced when Raylan Givens shall grace our TVs again. The magic date shall be July 18, when two episodes will materialize live and be streamable the next day on Hulu. The revival is based upon Elmore Leonard’s City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit novel, and a new teaser shows Raylan Givens swaggering into Detroit. Naturally, he must rescue and dust off his infamous hat, too.

Time for a rewatch of all six seasons, no? Hmm. Well, if you don’t have time to squeeze that in with all the new TV crowding your queue, we recently suggested watching an essential episode, “Long In The Tooth,” which highlights this lawman’s legendary status and also acts as a reminder of how the Marshall Out Of Water rolls around in the world. He should have a swell time hunting bad guys in Motor City.

While he also probably hunts for ice cream, Raylan will be in pursuit of the “new Boyd” — Clement Mansell, “a.k.a. The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent, sociopathic desperado who’s already slipped through the fingers of Detroit’s finest once.” via Entertainment Weekly. The show also takes place about five years before Raylan faces mandatory retirement age, but it doesn’t feel like he’ll ever be too old for this sh*t.

FX previously revealed only the tiniest hint of footage, so seeing the hat and boots in action feels like coming home, even though (obviously) Raylan will be far from the hollers of Kentucky.

Justified: City Primeval premiere on July 18. This will follow the world premiere on June 1-4 at Austin’s ATX TV Festival.

Beyoncé Shared A ‘Savage’ Mother’s Day Tribute To Tina Knowles-Lawson, From Whom She Got This Sh*t

Beyoncé didn’t need Mother’s Day to make her mom, Tina Knowles-Lawson, feel special. Knowles-Lawson can turn on “Savage Remix” any day and hear her daughter assert, “And my mama was a savage, n****, got this sh*t from Tina.”

But Beyoncé was performing to a sold-out Baudoin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium on Sunday, May 14, for her recently launched Renaissance World Tour, so why not uplift her mama (and all moms) even more on Mother’s Day?

“Happy Mother’s Day to all of the beautiful mothers,” Beyoncé said to the crowd in a fan-captured video posted by a Renaissance World Tour Twitter account.

The all-time-most Grammy winner posted to Instagram a projected photo of Knowles-Lawson above the Renaissance World Tour stage and a video of Knowles-Lawson having the time of her life backstage, dancing along to Beyoncé’s iconic line about her from “Savage.”

“Happy Muva’s Day,” Beyoncé captioned her Instagram post. “I love you so much Mama and I’m so grateful for all you do for me.”

Knowles-Lawson appeared to enjoy her Mother’s Day, as she also posted from Belgium. Her Instagram post is a video of her view from the floor of Baudoin Stadium, dancing as Beyoncé started performing “Love On Top.”

“This audience is the best yet !!! Love them !!! [red heart emoji],” she captioned it.

The Renaissance World Tour will next appear at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, UK. See all of the dates here.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Opens Up About The ‘Three Bouts Of Depression’ He’s Had In His Life

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is physically strong (remember the time he flexed so hard that the cast on his arm exploded? Because I do). He’s also mentally healthy, after going through “three bouts of depression,” as he explained on The Pivot podcast.

“My first bout of depression was down there in Miami,” he said about his time at the University of Miami, where he played football. “Didn’t want to go to school. I was ready to leave. I left school. I didn’t take any midterms and I just left. But the interesting thing, at that time, is I just didn’t know what it was. I didn’t know what mental health was. I didn’t know what depression was. I just knew I didn’t want to be there. Wasn’t going to any of the team meetings. Wasn’t participating in anything.”

Johnson’s second round of depression came years later, after he found his calling as a wrestler then an actor, when he got divorced from his wife, Dany Garcia, who is also his business partner. “Years later, and went through it again when I got a divorce… Didn’t know what it was,” he explained.

The most recent episode was in 2017 (a year after his “candy ass” comments), but this time, he “Knew what it was… And luckily, at that time, I had some friends who I could lean on and say, ‘You know, I’m feeling a little wobbly now. Got a little struggle happening. I’m seeing a little gray and not the blue.”

You can listen to (and watch) the podcast below.

Suga Brought Out Halsey To Perform ‘Suga’s Interlude’ Days After Halsey Updated Fans On New Music

Suga has been on a tour of NBA arenas in recent weeks, taking in the Knicks’ recently ended playoff run at Madison Square Garden on April 30 and watching the Lakers advance to the Western Conference Semifinals last Friday, May 12, at Crypto.com Arena. It’s all in a day’s work for an NBA Ambassador.

But the BTS star is used to being an arena’s main attraction. That was the case at Kia Forum in Los Angeles on May 10, May 11, and May 14 during his first-ever headlining solo trek in support of his D-Day album under his Agust D moniker.

On Sunday, May 14, Suga brought out Halsey to perform “Suga’s Interlude” live together for the first time. The track is housed on Halsey’s January 2020 album Manic. Kia Forum posted a two-minute video of the moment:

“Last time you were in LA, you were at my house,” Halsey told Suga on stage. “And now, I feel like I’m in your house.”

“This is my house!” Suga said, playing up the crowd.

Earlier in the day, Halsey acknowledged Mother’s Day by sharing a throwback photo from when she was pregnant with her nearly two-year-old son.

“I gently reminisce on days like this one, pictured. Days before I knew just how large a transformation I had in store. The growing circumference of my body couldn’t even begin to compete with the ways that my heart soul and mind would expand,” the caption reads. “I stepped into motherhood like a pair of new leather shoes. As they wear-in and soften each day, I can’t imagine what it was like before them. Worth every blister. (It helps, I suppose, that I have the best little boy in the world…) For all the roads that took me here, I am so grateful to be his Mommy. Happy Mother’s Day.”

Last Friday, May 12, Halsey also provided an update on new music on Tumblr, seemingly nodding toward splitting from Capitol Records last month (as reported by the likes of Billboard and Variety).

Read the post below.

“Hello. Hi. I know you want new music.

I want you to know that I am hard at work. There were some restrictions I was under, for a lot longer than it seemed, but they are no longer in the way. I’m sure you can fill in the blanks.

I’m always writing aimlessly and lawlessly as you know. But ‘album mode’ is a whole other arena and the games are just beginning. I am working on some of my favorite stuff I’ve ever conjured. Wild to think that it hasn’t even been 2 years since IICHLIWP! I know it feels like so much longer. It does to me too. But there were 2 years and 7 months between HFK and Manic and honestly I think it was worth it. The time I took. And the growth that got me from that album to the next.

Thank you for having the patience and the faith.

It will pay off in the long run.

This feels like my debut all over again, in some ways.

Your love and support have carried me through a time where I thought maybe I only had a few albums left in me, but I know now that there are so many more than I could have ever dreamed.

Anyways, I love you.

Down the rabbit hole I go

See you soon.”

Trump’s Team Was ‘Psyching Him Up’ During The CNN Town Hall By Showing Him Tweets From His Biggest Critics

It doesn’t take much to get Donald Trump fired up. Just the slightest irritant, and he’s off the to all-caps races. It’s a dynamic that his team reportedly played into during the highly controversial CNN town hall where the former president was basically given free rein to spew so much rage-filled misinformation that he may get himself sued for defamation. Again.

According to a new report, Trump’s team kept the former president good and agitated by constantly showing him tweets from Democrats “as if psyching up a boxer in his corner or egging on a bully” during the town hall. Naturally, one of those tweets came from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Via Axios:

Among the tweets Trump was shown was one by Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who posted 23 minutes into the town hall (before the first commercial break at about 8:40 p.m. ET):

“CNN should be ashamed of themselves. They have lost total control of this ‘town hall’ to again be manipulated into platforming election disinformation, defenses of Jan 6th, and a public attack on a sexual abuse victim. The audience is cheering him on and laughing at the host.”

The tactic clearly worked as Trump easily trampled moderator Kaitlan Collins with a constant barrage of election fraud lies and continued smears of E. Jean Carroll, who had just defeated Trump in court the day before. Although, firing up Trump may have worked a little too well. After the night was over, even Fox News couldn’t believe that CNN dropped the ball so badly on fact-checking the former president. It was like letting a bull loose in a China shop, but the bull also reads Twitter.

A Putin Ally Boasted About Russia’s Unemployment, Which Would Be Laughable If The Cause Wasn’t So Grim

Vladimir Putin is nowhere near close to a coveted win in his war on Ukraine, and he recently presided over a Victory Day parade that included one sad little tank. Beyond the death and destruction of the war itself — and so many lives erased on the battlefield — Russia’s economy is in tatters. Basic goods are lacking, to put things mildly, and the nation’s sorry attempt at a McDonald’s imitation has not won over fans of the real deal.

Still, Putin’s propaganda machine is urging everyone to look at the bright side of things. That includes the country’s record-low unemployment as boasted about by a Russian State TV talking head, Dmitry Kiselyov. He’s a staunch Putin ally, of course, and he urged everyone to be thrilled about a Russian labor shortage as evidence of a strong economy. According to Business Insider, he totally did not disclose that this is almost completely the case because of Putin’s war. Not only have so many Russian men been recruited, but plenty of others have fled to other countries to avoid being drafted. It’s a grim reality, looking at the numbers:

In March, the country was losing an estimated 776 soldiers a day, which dropped to 568 in April, according to UK intelligence.

Around 300,00 men were drafted into the Russian military last September, and a new wave of mobilizations is considered likely amid continued setbacks. Added to that is Russia’s already declining and ageing population.

Not ideal. In other Putin news, the Russian president has huffily banned top officials from leaving their jobs until his Ukraine war concludes. This news follows word of two more top Russian officers losing their lives on the battlefield over the weekend.

Halle Bailey Delivered A Stunning, Bioluminescent Performance Of ‘Part Of Your World’ On ‘American Idol’

American Idol has had some major moments this season, from Katy Perry going viral for delivering good news to Ed Sheeran and Alanis Morissette guesting to King Charles III And Queen Camilla popping up on an episode. They had another big show last night (May 14), which featured a performance from The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey.

On yesterday’s episode, Bailey delivered a performance of the iconic “Part Of Your World.” She wasn’t live in studio, but instead, Bailey took the stage at Disneyland in the dark, surrounded by blue, bioluminescent-looking lights for a gorgeous-looking pre-taped performance. It’s easy to see why people cried at her audition.

Bailey took to Twitter to share the video and offer some insight about what the performance was like, writing, “first time singing part of your world live since filming [crying emoji] [wave emoji] thank you @AmericanIdol for giving me the chance to do so on stage at disneyland ..singing vocals in freezing cold weather at 3am while park is closed is no joke but we did it! only 11 more days until you all can watch the film !”

Janelle Monáe’s Mom’s First Question After Seeing The NSFW ‘Lipstick Lover’ Video Was About The ‘Nude Booty’ In It

Yesterday (May 14) was Mother’s Day, and late last night, Janelle Monáe shined a light on her mom, specifically on her reaction to the NSFW “Lipstick Lover” video that has taken over the internet in recent days.

In a video shot the day before the “Lipstick Lover” video release, Monáe is on a video call with their mother, showing her the clip. After it ended, her mother reacted, “Oh-ho… that’s cool. Only thing, though: Are you gonna be able to show that nude booty all the time on the… like, on the YouTube?” Monáe responded, “Yeah, they said we could!”

Monáe then asked if her mom had any last-minute thoughts on the video before its release, and she responded, “Well, would be nice if you had a man’s butt up there.” She added, “It’s a nice song. If people don’t get hysterical about the booty so bad, if they just listen to the lyrics of the song, it gonna go triple.” Monáe asked what she meant by “triple” and after trying to find the right words, their mother said, “Triple golden.”

Wrapping up the convo, Monáe asked if her mom enjoyed the video and she replied, “Yeah. I just was hoping that big booty go away for a second.”

It’s a delightful video, so check it out above.

The Age Of Pleasure is out 6/9 via Wondaland Arts Society/Atlantic Records. Find more information here.

‘Succession’ Viewers Could Not Handle The Stress While Watching Endless Chaos Unfold During ‘America Decides’

This wasn’t quite the penultimate episode of Succession, but that’s coming next week, and before then, you’ll receive another Report Card from Brian Grubb. First, we’ve coming up on “Election Night,” and the first one without Logan Roy at the helm. Somehow, they still haven’t buried the guy (wait for it next week), but tensions were high for this episode, to say the very least.

Election night was absolute chaos with a malfunctioning touchscreen, a fire in Milwaukee, another fight between Shiv and Tom, and Greg letting it slip to Tom that Shiv is colluding with the Bleeding Swede, which is especially interesting information to land after the horrible scorpion-snake fight. And that doesn’t even account for the “wasabi in my eyes!” scene. Alright, so it was lemon, but that’s still not a good time.

Who had the worst night? I’m gonna go with Shiv. Between Tom accusing her of “sort-of killing” Logan and him kind-of not believing that she’s pregnant, and Kendall finding out about her deal with Matsson, mannn. She’s gonna need even more therapy than she could probably use on a regular day.

Overall, people were so damn nervous while watching the chaos unfold.

That damn touch screen got things started on the wrong note:

Then there was the amped-up tension of Shiv revealing her pregnancy to Tom on Mother’s Day and Tom questioning if she was even telling the truth.

‘Twas quite an evening. Next week: Logan’s funeral!

HBO’s ‘Succession’ airs on Sunday nights at 9:00pm EST.
