Wet Leg Brought Out Dave Grohl To Deliver His ‘Longest And Loudest’ Scream During Coachella

Weekend two of Coachella keeps cranking out the surprises. Last night (April 21), two generations of rock came together, as Dave Grohl joined Wet Leg for a special performance of “Ur Mum” from their 2022 self-titled debut album.

When Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers of Wet Leg typically perform “Ur Mom,” they often ask the audience to join in with their “longest and loudest scream”. When they asked the Coachella audience to join in and scream, Grohl emerged from the side of the stage and made a surprise takeover of the microphones, delivering one of his signature banshee screams.

Much of the audience was surprised but thrilled as Grohl nailed the scream.

“Ur Mum” is a favorite of Wet Leg fans, as many fans have found comfort in the song having dealt with break-ups. But since dropping their debut album, Teasdale revealed in an interview with Coup De Main that she has since let go of that anger and resentment she had when writing the song.

“[I]t’s kind of cool to document that headspace that I was in at the time because I definitely couldn’t write a song like that now, because I’m just not angry at anyone,” she said. “I’m actually really in love. So who knows what kind of music we’ll be writing for the second album.”

A Perfect Fake Punt In The XFL Saw A Punter Throw Up A Prayer That Went For An 84-Yard Touchdown

Usually a fake punt is a remarkably tricky thing. There are tons of moving parts, all of which are designed to take advantage of a return team that could either get caught sleeping or lose someone that goes for a big gain.

And then, there is this fake punt from Saturday afternoon’s XFL game between the Orlando Guardians and the St. Louis Battlehawks. Orlando found itself facing a fourth-and-21 in the second quarter from deep in its own territory after a three-and-out, which meant the punt team was going to go out there. It’s a situation where teams should probably never fake punt, but instead, the Guardians opted to run a fake punt where their punter threw up a jump ball that somehow worked. Mac Brown took the snap, didn’t even pretend like he was going to punt, and lofted a duck to former NFL tight end Jordan Thomas.

The whole thing worked out better than anyone could have hoped, as Thomas overpowered the defender, caught the ball, and took off up the field. He knifed his way through the Battlehawk defense, made a few men miss, and 84 yards later, he was in the end zone. As for Brown, this was the second week in a row that he’s showed off his arm on a fake punt, only the last time he did this, it didn’t quite end in a score.

Matthew Rhys Is Pretty Sure He Ruined His Bond Audition By Apparently Flubbing An Important Question

Daniel Craig hasn’t actually played James Bond in three-and-a-half years, having wrapped up his last day of shooting his swan song, No Time to Die, back in 2019, months before the pandemic ruined everything. We still don’t know who will replace him. (Though rumor is it might be a certain former Kick-Ass star.) The search to follow Pierce Brosnan was a big deal, too, and though it eventually went to an incredibly respected actor, there was another acclaimed thespian from the U.K. who auditioned — and, he believes, blew it by cracking a silly joke.

Matthew Rhys — who went on to a perfect vaunted career himself — recently spoke to The Times of London (as caught by Deadline), where he looked back on his days pre-The Americans. One fun anecdote (apart from playing one of the killers on the final-ever Columbo) was trying out for 007 in the mid-aughts.

“Very intimidating,” is how he described the experience. “We were just told to wear a dark suit and read Casino Royale.”
As such, he was caught off-guard when they hit him with a surprise question: What would he do differently from past Bonds?

“I just remember going, ‘Ah.’ I was so not anticipating that question,” Rhys recalled. “And then I was like, is it a trick question? Are they waiting for people to go, ‘I wouldn’t do anything. He’s perfect’?”

He also didn’t think he should say, “Oh, it’s been a bit one-note for a few decades, hasn’t it? I think we can drop the misogynistic jokes,” so he tried a joke. “I’d give him a limp. I said, ‘Limp?’ Nothing. ‘Eye patch?’ Nothing.”

Rhys didn’t reveal what exactly he said (unless he just said “Ah”). But whatever his reply was, it was clearly insufficient. He imagined Craig coming in after him and replying, simply, “Gritty Reboot? Job done.”

So you didn’t get Matthew Rhys having his nuts hit with a big metal ball by baddie Mads Mikkelsen. But you did get him rebooting Perry Mason and battling a bear high on cocaine.

Kali Uchis And Her Ladies Get All Dolled-Up In Her New ‘Moonlight’ Video

Ahead of another glamorous performance at Coachella, Kali Uchis has shared the video for “Moonlight,” a fan-favorite from her third studio album, Red Moon In Venus.

In the video for “Moonlight,” the camera zooms in on a dollhouse, in which, Uchis and a group of her lady friends are seen getting glammed-up with make-up, preparing Uchis for a special night with a certain somebody.

“I just wanna get high with my lover / Veo una muñeca cuando miro en el espejo / Kiss, kiss / Looking dolly, I think I may go out tonight / I just wanna ride, get high in the moonlight,” Uchis sings over a smooth, romantic track.

Later in the video, she is seen dancing on the hood of a car, as she is floating on top of a space river near the moon — fitting for an out-of-this-world performance. Shortly after, a Uchis makes a return to the dollhouse, peering through the window, as if up to something exciting.

Uchis will perform tomorrow night (April 23) on the Coachella stage. She is also set to kick off her Red Moon In Venus tour this coming Tuesday (April 25) in Austin, Texas. During select dates on her upcoming tour, Uchis will be supported by UK pop artist, RAYE.

Meghan McCain Says She’s ‘At Peace’ With Her Time On ‘The View’ (In A Scathing Takedown Of It)

Meghan McCain left The View about a year and a half ago, eventually being replaced by someone who used to work for the guy who regularly slammed her late dad. She didn’t have a great time. Some of the things her co-hosts said to her, including on-air, were legitimately hurtful. Luckily she’s finally found made “peace” — as she states at the beginning of what winds up being a scathing takedown of the show.

In an op-ed for The Daily Mail, McCain writes about what she describes as her “very public, very nasty breakup with an infamous ex-boyfriend.” At first it sounds like she’s finally in a good place, writing that she’s “at peace with that part of my professional life.”

She then goes on to describe how relieved she feels when another former View host trashes the joint, including two-time co-host Rosie O’Donnnell and Jenny McCarthy. “In a way, it’s validating,” she writes. “I wasn’t crazy. They were.”

McCain repeats a tale she’s told before: How colleague Joy Behar was cruel to her upon her return from maternity leave. Her telling the crowd and TV audience that they didn’t miss her was made all the worse by her suffering from a “severe case of postpartum anxiety for which I had to be medicated.”

She also says she was pushed off discussing certain “Hot Topic” subjects by her co-hosts. Whoopi Goldberg, she claims, wouldn’t let her discuss the Bill Cosby rape allegations, which led to his imprisonment.

Another was the revelation that then-Virginia governor Ralph Northam had worn blackface in a decades-old medical school yearbook. That, too, was shot down. She claims the reason was because a) a photo from the 1970s had also recently resurfaced showing Behar wearing darkened skin at a Halloween party, and b) the same thing happened to Ted Danson, who wore blackface while dating Goldberg in the early ‘90s.

“We weren’t allowed to talk about it because of Whoopi and Joy Behar,” McCain writes.

McCain argues that, though she was hired to be the “conservative voice,” but she came to believe “it’s not the Republican extremists that they hate. They hate anyone with a different point of view.

“The only way to survive on that show is to be vanilla pudding,” she writes. “Say nothing controversial with the elites, bow down, and don’t actually do the job you were hired to do, which is voice your authentic opinions.”

Despite making “peace” with her time on the show, McCain soon finds herself writing, “may the bridges I burn light the way.”

Boygenius Delivered A Cozy Performance Of ‘Not Strong Enough’ On Kimmel

Ahead of another promising weekend at Coachella, Boygenius stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! for a special late-night performance.

Last night (April 21) the trio performed “Not Strong Enough” from their full-length debut album, The Record. During their performance, Boygenius — which is comprised of Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker — strummed their guitars and delivered harmonious vocals, while joined by an all-women backing band. In the background were television screens, with static and white noise on display.

After the performance, the ladies embraced, with Bridgers and Dacus kissing Baker on either cheek, solidifying their cozy, sisterly bond.

This weekend, Boygenius is set to perform Coachella for the second time tonight (April 22) on the Outdoor Theatre stage. Last weekend, their performance garnered much buzz, as they showed their support for the transgender community and reproductive rights.

“Trans lives matter, trans kids matter,” said Dacus. “We’re gonna fight it and we’re gonna win.”

“And abortion rocks, and f*ck [Florida governor] Ron DeSantis,” added Bridgers.

Over the course of the past few months, Boygenius has been killing the performance game. Back in March, they performed at the Austin-Bergstrom Airport to fans arriving for SXSW.

Ben Affleck Said He And Matt Damon Blew The Money They Made For The ‘Good Will Hunting’ Script In Six Months

Both Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have had remarkably long and fruitful careers, albeit with some valleys to go along with the peaks. Even the movie that made them, 1998’s Good Will Hunting, wasn’t without its headaches. Getting big at such a young age can be tricky, and after they got a not bad (but not great) payday for writing the script for what would prove their breakthrough, they wound up broke all but six months later.

“We sold [the script] for $600,000, we split that, $300,000 each, and then the agents got $30,000 so we had $270,000 and we paid about $160,000 in taxes so we had $110,000, each bought $55,000 Jeep Cherokees and then had $55,000 left,” Affleck revealed during an appearance Friday on The Drew Barrymore Show. “Naturally we decided to rent a $5,000 a month party house on Glencoe Way by the Hollywood Bowl and we were broke in six months.”

The pair reunited recently for Air, the hit film about the making of a (very nice and very profitable) shoe, and they’ve predictably been telling stories about their longtime friendship. For instance, the two lived together for a time — a time Affleck does not recall all that fondly given Damon’s penchant, at least in his younger days, for being a bit of a slob.

Barrymore — who’s proven an excellent and unique interviewer, especially with fellow screen stars — even got Affleck to open up about the slight difficulty of of shooting one of his even earlier works: a commercial for Burger King. Turns out the director made him self-conscious about his knack for driving. Still, it’s not as bad as being dubbed over the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. You can watch that BK ad below:

Trump Asked A Crowd Of Die-Hard Fans If Anyone Wanted To Eat A Piece Of The Pizza Slice He Was Eating

Donald Trump has a long history of giving his rabid base what they want: the delicious but profoundly unhealthy food he loves so much he sometimes misspells them. He famously treated college football champs not to the White House’s finest grub but to a vast McDonald’s spread. Earlier this year he (admittedly very nicely) treated the police and fire department in East Palestine, Ohio to a McD’s feast (while telling the cashiers he knew their menu better than they did). But on Friday night he may have gone too far, even for him.

After kicking off the weekend with a speech at a Republican dinner in Fort Myers, Florida, the former president chased the buzz by going to a pizza place. There he found himself surrounded by followers, who he treated to some pizza. Much like the East Palestine bit, it’s legitimately generous — maybe too generous. After all, he asked if anyone wanted his seconds.

“Does anybody want a piece that I’ve eaten?” Trump asked the crowd, who were busy shouting his surname. No one took him up on it, so he continued housing the slice.

At the dinner, Trump gave one of his rambling, free-associative addresses, where he weighed in on topics about or related to him. He vowed, if re-elected a second time, to go after Black prosecutors, like Alvin Bragg and Letitia James, for “illegal racist in reverse enforcement of the law.” He defended Clarence Thomas for failing to report gifts he received from a GOP donor who collects Nazi artifacts. And then he had some pizza.
