Taylor Swift Made A Surprise Appearance At Haim’s Show In London

Fans of Haim and Taylor Swift received a pleasant surprise tonight. During Haim’s concert at the London O2 arena, the sisters’ longtime besty made a surprise appearance. While the ladies of Haim are currently on an international tour supporting their third album, Women In Music, PT. III, Swift hasn’t toured since her 2018 Reputation tour.

“I haven’t been on stage in a very long time,” said Swift as she arrived on stage. “It’s nice…it’s nice, it’s very nice. When I heard my girls were playing in London at the O2, I thought, ‘I’m going to have to see that.’ And it looks like there’s about 20,000 other people who also thought that. So we had a thought. If we were to do some sort of mash-up, we could possibly maybe get you to sing the loudest you have sung all night – which is a big challenge because you have been singing very loudly – extraordinary work.”

Swift joined Haim in a performance of their song, “Gasoline,” which they mashed up into Swift’s “Love Story.”

Over the years, Haim has joined Swift on her 1989 tour, and they have collaborated on a cut from Swift’s ninth studio album, Evermore called “No Body, No Crime.”

Check out a clip of the performance above.

Metro Boomin Paid The Mortgage For The Family Of The Retired Cop Who Died In The Buffalo Mass Shooting

The mass shooting in a Buffalo supermarket back in May was devastating for both the city and the country at large. It is especially difficult as there have been several shooting victims to mourn over the course of this year, but moments of unity and generosity make the process a bit easier. Metro Boomin recently extended a wealth of generosity to his longtime fan Aaron Salter III by paying off his and his mother Kimberly’s mortgage in full.

Salter III is the son of the late Aaron Salter Jr., known as the security guard and retired police offer who died attempting to save other civilians in the tragic event. His son shared a post on Instagram this past Wednesday (June 20), holding a sign that said “Paid In Full.” The caption reading:

“How many producers you know look out for people when they need it most? Gotta say thanks to my favorite producer @metroboomin he called me and asked if he could help me during my tragic loss and did just that! No more mortgage Paid in full!!! Thanks @metroboomin ill never forget what you did!”

The Atlanta producer reciprocated the love in the comments with “Love always bro! My line is always open and I meant every single thing I said back when we spoke” and a red heart to close.

Check out Aaron Salter III’s grateful Instagram post above.

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Has Taken ‘The Avengers’ Spot Among The Top 10 Highest Grossing Movies Of All Time

The fine folks at Collider noted today that Top Gun: Maverick has claimed another prize on its ascent into the stratosphere of cinematic history. The air thinner up there, and it’s filled with blue people, superheroes, and Tom Cruise’s giant teeth. It was only a week ago that the Top Gun sequel about beach football players who moonlight as Navy (not Air Force!) pilots tossed Transformers: Age of Extinction out of its top spot as the highest grossing Paramount movie of all time, and now it’s thrust The Avengers into the cusp position in the Top 10 highest grossing domestic scores of all time. Yes, that’s a fancy way of saying Top Gun: Maverick is now 9th, and the first modern Marvel team-up is in 10th.

So far, the high-flying movie has earned $623,839,035. If it’s going to slide into the 8th slot, it’ll have to best Jurassic World‘s $653,406,625, which doesn’t seem that implausible given its outlandish longevity. Despite being out for two months, Maverick is still #4 at the box office, showing no signs of slowing down. The question is, like Moana, how far it will go.

To break into the top 5, it would have to bust Black Panther‘s $700,426,566, and hitting the top 3 requires another $100k to bust Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s $804,793,477. If it makes a penny over $936,662,225, it will take the top spot and unseat The Force Awakens.

Interestingly, its position on the list solidifies it as a thoroughly American movie. Pretty much every movie on the domestic top 10 is also on the global top 10 (or close to it), but Maverick demurs on that front, dropping all the way back to 19th. Therefore, scientifically, Jedi and superheroes are more universal than American bros screaming in planes.

Central Cee Shares The Quick-Hitting ‘Doja’ With A Video Directed By Cole Bennett

Central Cee has been the next man up in British rap for a minute now. His rise was evident at his packed Wireless Festival set in Birmingham earlier this month, and he debuted a new song that had fans ablaze. On the heels of this year’s 23 mixtape, Shepherd’s Bush native Central Cee has officially released “Doja.” The track arrives with a video directed by Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett.

Whereas Central Cee’s breakout hit, “Obsessed With You,” sampled Pinkpantheress’s “Just For Me,” the beat from “Doja” flips a sample of Eve and Gwen Stefani’s 2001 bop, “Let Me Blow Ya Mind.” On the quick-hitting track clocks in at just under two minutes, Cench spits, “Somebody tell Doja Cat, that I’m tryna indulge in that. In my grey tracksuit, see the bulge in that, see the motion clap when you’re throwin’ it back.”

The accompanying video marks the first time that Bennett — who has worked on videos for Justin Bieber, Polo G, NLE Choppa, and others — has directed a video for a UK rapper. It speaks to Cench’s growing influence on rap outside of the UK as well as back home in London.

Warriors GM Bob Myers On A Potential KD Reunion: ‘I Like Our Team And Where It’s At’

Kevin Durant is still a member of the Brooklyn Nets despite the fact that he requested a trade last month. Brooklyn reportedly would like to get a bevy of talented players and draft picks back for Durant, with no one meeting that lofty asking price yet. One of Durant’s former teams does seem like it can clear that bar, but according to Bob Myers, the Golden State Warriors don’t seem intent on doing that.

Myers, Golden State’s general manager, told NBA.com while he was at the ESPYs that pursuing Durant isn’t really in the cards, as the team that just won a championship would rather run it back.

“I like our team and where it’s at,” Myers told NBA.com. “I want to give the guys a chance to do it again.”

“It’s a good group. We’re lucky. It’ll be fun to see,” Myers said. “We were really hunting last year. Now I guess we’re back to being the hunted, which I didn’t think we’d be. We’ll see. I think we can handle it.”

Durant, of course, played for the Warriors from from 2016-19 and won a pair of titles with the team, both of which ended with him being named NBA Finals MVP. Much has been made of how Durant’s time with the team ended — for example, Golden State coach Steve Kerr has mentioned that the final year of that team’s run was not easy, telling Sam Amick of The Athletic last year, “when you do something for that long, such a competitive emotional level — five years, and teams trying to knock you off and building their team to beat you, it’s exhausting. And I think we were all just exhausted.”

If the Warriors felt they could navigate a reunion, a package involving Andrew Wiggins, a collection of their promising young players, and all of their draft capital is appealing. But ultimately, that door seems like it is closed.

Say Hello To The Twitter Account Holding Kylie Jenner And Other Stars Accountable For Their Climate-Busting Private Jet Joyrides

It’s 2022, so it should be known that there is no privacy anywhere, ever. But that’s especially true when it comes to celebrities, who have actual Twitter accounts dedicated to knowing their every move. While that’s problematic in its own right, it also gives us normal people (aka, those who aren’t billionaires) a look into what it’s like to be rich. And it looks like being rich is just using all of the earth’s precious resources until they eventually run dry, while also being incredibly insensitive to those around you. It seems hard, right?

Kylie Jenner has been stirring up drama among her fans who seem tired of her flaunting her wealth. Recently, Jenner posted a picture with Travis Scott with the caption “mine or yours” and the duo posing in between their two private jets. This did not land well with Jenner’s target demographic of middle-class millennial women.

Then this week, a Twitter account dedicated to tracking celebrity jets, CelebJets, made note that Jenner also recently took a 17-minute ride across a California suburb, which would be an estimated 45-minute drive, according to Page Six. This is not the first time it’s happened, and people are growing increasingly agitated with the carelessness of celebs as the climate crisis becomes alarming.

CelebJets also lists the amount of fuel used in each flight (they did not provide the stats for Jenner’s 17-minute ride) which shows exactly how much jet fuel and CO2 emissions celebs like Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg go through for their various 30 minutes jet rides. Unsurprisingly, it’s a lot. Spielberg’s recent 24-minute New York flight used over 1,300 lbs of jet fuel.

The creator of the account, Jack Sweeney, also pointed out that certain celebrities try to hide their data, but it’s all out in the public.

On the one hand, tracking a celebrity to see where they are is weird. On the other hand, why do they feel the need to fly across town to run errands? Many of Jenner’s followers are tired of seeing her and others present their wealth in this way.

The planet is dying! These jets don’t need to bring you to the grocery store. Maybe Jenner should listen to her fans on this one.

Lil Baby Launches A Job Program For Young Adults In Atlanta

Once upon a time, getting a summer job was a rite of passage for teens and young adults, but in the wake of a global pandemic and rising concerns over fair wages, it’s a tradition that has understandably fallen by the wayside of late. However, summer is also traditionally a time when that particular demographic is likely to get into more trouble since school is out and cities are not investing in activities or community programs to keep them occupied.

Fortunately for 100 Atlanta-area teens and adults, Lil Baby has launched an initiative to get them jobs alongside restauranteur Lemont Bradley. They’ve teamed up to offer positions such as bartenders, dishwashers, line cooks, and waiters at Bradley’s restaurants, Clutch Restaurant, Auto Spa Bistro, and Eco Car Spa, with further plans to start a lawn care service later this year. They also provided their rationale in a statement, saying:

“With the crime rate surrounding scams, robbery, and even murder being so high, we are looking to provide a positive outlet and revenue stream to those who are looking for an income. We are so excited about this initiative. Of course, we are looking forward to helping boost the city’s economy, but we are really focused on lowering the city’s crime rate.”

Of course, it remains to be seen whether the wages they’re offering will be competitive; if they want this thing to work, they’d better be. The kids are extremely online these days, and I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Gen Z does not dream of labor. Hopefully, though, Baby and Bradley will accomplish their primary goal and help keep those kids out of trouble.

The Fiery New ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Trailer Has A Smoldering Regé-Jean Page With Abs Of Armor And Chris Pine With A Lute

When Regé-Jean Page departed from Bridgerton, it was understood that he’d be moving (at least partially) into blockbuster mode, and that’s what’s definitely happening. He’s not quite in leading man mode, since he’s sharing the screen with Chris Pine (who’s seen in the last moments of this trailer hopping around while shredding a lute). Also on hand? Michelle Rodriguez in her customary butt-kicking mode as this franchise takes another stab at bringing the role-playing game to life.

The sights and sounds whirl by so fast here that it’s dizzying, but yes, this film’s bringing dragons back at around the same time as the Game of Thrones franchise is doing. Oh look, Hugh Grant is in this movie, too. Bet you never expected that one, but he’s apparently determined to do the unexpected in this phase of his career. Sword play and an “owlbear” will be had, and hey, they built “jacked” abs into Page’s armor.

Dungeons And Dragons: Honor Among Thieves trailer
Paramount Pictures

Gotta keep the brand strong. From the YouTube-posted synopsis:

A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves arrives in March 2023.

Punch Explains The Delay In Releasing SZA’s Album And Promises An Announcement Is Coming Soon

Five years can seem like a long time to wait for a new album for many fans (at least, those who don’t remember the gaps between albums from A Tribe Called Quest, Black Star, Dr. Dre, and Guns N’ Roses). So, SZA fans, who have mostly grown up in the era of instant gratification via streaming, delivery, and ride-share services, have been understandably impatient for news about the follow-up to her beloved 2017 debut, CTRL. Much of that ire has been directed at Punch, the president of SZA’s label, Top Dawg Entertainment (often seemingly spurred by SZA herself),

Today, though, Punch — who’s been pretty patient about the whole situation, all things considered (stans: not fun to deal with) — decided to offer some transparency on social media, offering an explanation for the increasingly lengthy delay between projects, especially given SZA’s announcement about a “SZA summer” stoking fans’ impatience. Check it out below.

I guess I should give a bit of context.
SZA and myself initially spoke about a summertime album. Which is why she mentioned summer in a post-Grammys interview.
Shortly after discussing everything with RCA and Top, we decided it was best to do it a little bit later to set everything up correctly, giving it its proper space and lead time.
There is a lot that goes into putting out a album and especially one with this much anticipation. We thank you for your continued patience and understanding. An announcement will be coming sooner than you think.
Punch
