Taylor Swift Fans Are Heartbroken After She Didn’t Announce ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ Like They Thought She Would

Taylor Swift did not announce the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version) yesterday (November 26), which was a bummer for eagle-eyed Swifties who looked at the clues and assumed she was going to.

As Cosmopolitan points out, Swift played her final The Eras Tour concert of 2023 yesterday, in São Paulo, Brazil. In the lead-up to that, fans noticed that Swift’s mother and rep were at the show in all-black outfits, and Swift herself appeared to be sporting an all-black manicure. Furthermore, an X/Twitter post from the Empire State Building was perceived by some as a teaser for the announcement, as was a sale on a Reputation phone case.

There’s also the fact that we’ve gotten sneak peeks at a couple of Reputation (Taylor’s Version) songs already. This August, some of “Delicate (Taylor’s Version)” could be heard during a scene of Amazon’s Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty. Later that month, “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)” was used in a teaser for the Prime Video show Wilderness.

It appears Swift is aware of all the hubbub: On stage last night, she said, “During the Rep… the uh, The Eras Tour… […] Now you’ve gotten in my head.”

Check out some reactions to the lack of Reputation (Taylor’s Version) news below.

A Michigan High Schooler Made A Ridiculous Behind-The-Back Interception In The State Title Game

While the college football regular season wrapped up this weekend and the NFL is hitting the stretch run, around the country the high school playoffs are coming to a close.

There are few things more enjoyable than a good high school football championship game, particularly in a state that produces top talent, as you can see some future college and pro stars show out at the high school level. On Sunday in Michigan, two undefeateds met in the MHSAA Division 1 Championship Game at Ford Field in Detroit, as Belleville and Southfield A&T played for the title. After Southfield struck first to go up 6-0, Belleville set up its first touchdown of the game thanks to one of the best defensive plays you’ll see at any level of football from Adrian Walker Jr.

Walker Jr. tips the ball up into the air and then reaches his arms behind his back to somehow squeeze the interception to get the Tigers the ball back in great field position. It’s a truly absurd play, and while his return didn’t count because his knee was down, it still yielded a touchdown for Belleville to get them on the board for the first time in the game. Walker is a junior and a 3-star athlete, pulling double duty as a receiver and defensive back, but this is unquestionably a 5-star play and should turn some heads his way.

South African singer Tyla is amapiano music’s rising star. Following the release of her viral song “Water” and the subsequent TikTok challenge, Tyla has snatched the public’s attention. In fact, this month, during the 2024 Grammy Awards nomination ceremony, Tyla even earned herself a nod in the Best New Artist category. Shortly after that, to serve as icing on her blissful career cake, she dropped the remix to her smash hit, which featured a guest appearance by Travis Scott.

Although the jury’s still out on what “Water” is actually about, the meaning of her next record is clear-cut. Yesterday (November 25), Tyla took to her official X (formerly Twitter) page to tease her new song.

“Truth or Dare. Pre-save, December 1,” wrote Tyla. In the steamy teaser clip, Tyla appears to be cutting things off with a past lover struggling with her newfound fame.

“Can’t handle what I am now / You’re a fan now / And I’m not what I was / So tell me, are you down now? / ‘Cause I’m up now / So, let’s play truth or dare / Dare you to forget / That you used to treat me just like anyone / Truth or dare,” sings Tyla.

Although there are no aquatic tricks in the video like in the official visual for “Water,” the sound will make a splash once the entire record hits streaming platforms.

“Truth Or Dare” is out 12/1 via Epic.

Scott Hanson And The NFL RedZone Crew Had To Evacuate The Studio Due To A Fire Alarm

Every week, millions of fans tune in to NFL RedZone to watch the league’s whip-around coverage of every game, commercial-free, hosted by Scott Hanson, who rather famously never leaves his post as long as the channel is on, even for a bathroom break.

However, RedZone featured a first on Sunday evening, as late in the 4 p.m. window of games, a fire alarm went off in the Los Angeles studios that forced Hanson and the crew in the production booth to evacuate the studios. They left the Bills-Eagles game up on the broadcast as, in a fascinating TV moment, Hanson explained over the sound of an alarm that they were going to have to step outside and he “might” be back.

Thankfully, the alarm was not something particularly severe and Hanson returned fairly quickly to then deliver the news that RedZone would be going off air, not because of a fire, but because the Chiefs-Raiders game had ended, meaning Bills-Eagles was the dreaded “last game standing.” When there’s only one game being played, RedZone cannot air it in its entirety, and thus they had to direct the audience to their CBS affiliate for the final minutes as the Bills tried to retake the lead in Philly. Still, it was a bizarre scene and Hanson wasn’t entirely sure what happened.

Draymond Green Says The NBA ‘Can’t Keep Suspending Me’ For Past Actions (They Will)

draymond green

Draymond Green will return to the Warriors lineup on Tuesday night against the Kings after serving his 5-game suspension for putting Rudy Gobert in a chokehold two minutes into a game against the Timberwolves two weeks ago. Without Green (including that Minnesota game they played 46 minutes without him), Golden State has gone 2-4, stumbling to 10th in the West at 8-9 on the season.

Part of the reason Green was suspended for so many games was his history of crossing the line, whether that be by way of low blows, punching a teammate in practice, stomping on an opponent, or, in this case, putting someone in a sleeper hold. The league cited Green’s past incidents of “unsportsmanlike acts” as part of the reason for his 5-game suspension, which irked Green, who spoke to reporters on Sunday for the first time since returning to the team.

Green felt he shouldn’t continue to be punished after serving his punishment for those incidents previously.

Unfortunately for Green, the NBA will absolutely continue to hold his past actions against him, as they see it as a pattern of behavior and will offer increasingly severe penalties for those actions if he keeps up the antics, as it indicates the past punishments weren’t enough to get him to change his ways. Now, while Green wouldn’t go so far as to say he regretted his actions, he did seem to notice the way those around the Warriors weren’t willing to simply brush this one aside. Steve Kerr called his suspension “deserved” and no one was really up in arms about the league putting the hammer down this time.

Green noted he has to listen to that — and the league — and find ways to make the needed changes to stay on the floor.

For years, Green has toed the line with his aggressive play and the Warriors have been fine with the tradeoff of Green crossing that line because of what he brings them otherwise. However, the last two years the frustrations have seemed to be a bit higher on the Warriors side and Green seems to be hearing that he’s got to find a better way to control that aggression. Whether he can actually do that is an entirely different question (and one that most would be skeptical of).

Mom comes out to her 7-year-old as a sexual assault survivor. The discomfort was worth it.

Sarah Shanley Hope’s story is frighteningly common.

As a kid, she went over to her neighbor’s house one day to play with her best friend. While there, her friend’s older brother sexually assaulted both of them.

Hope was only 6 years old.

Being so young, she didn’t know how to verbalize what happened or how to process it. She carried the pain with her for years, until she had daughters of her own.

She told her own girls from the beginning, “You’re in charge of your body.” But at times, the message seemed to ring hollow.

Mostly, Hope recalls her older daughter, now 8, rolling her eyes, having heard the refrain so many times before: “There goes mom being overprotective, again.

But one day Hope got a call from school. A boy in the class had been caught inappropriately touching some of the girls. Her own daughter had even had a run-in with him.

“He kept hanging on me even after I said ‘stop’! It was so annoying,” Hope recalls her daughter saying.

Hope decided that, finally, it was time to tell her daughter her own story — her own “Me Too” moment.

“I finally said, honey, the reason I’m paying such close attention to this is that mommy had an experience when I was a kid, where someone did something to my body that wasn’t OK.”

“I don’t want you to feel badly inside like I did,” she continued, according to her impassioned post on Medium. “I want you to know that we can always talk about the hard and confusing stuff.”

An uncomfortable but, sadly, necessary conversation. You can watch what happens next in the video below:

Why She Told Her 7-Year-Old Daughter About Her Own MeToo Story?

7 might seem like a very young age to tackle such a weighty conversation. But it might be necessary even earlier than that.

The National Center for Victims of Crime estimates that 20% of women (and 5-10% of men) recall an incident of sexual abuse as a child, with kids between 7 and 13 being the most vulnerable.

Those are horrifying statistics for any parent, so horrifying that we might wish we could be with our kids every second of the day to protect them from the horrors of the world. But we can’t.

The best we can do is make sure they are aware of the danger and armed with knowledge about what to do if they need help. That includes direct talks — like the ones Hope has had with her kids — and modeling proper boundaries in our own lives.

In Hope’s case, sharing her story has triggered a wave of positive change in her own community. She says several of her parent friends have called her recently for advice about how to have these conversations with their kids of all ages. And that’s definitely something we need more of.

“We can’t undo the harm,” Hope writes. “What we can do is choose discomfort over hiding from the pain — or worse, repeating it.”

Christopher Nolan Argued That Hollywood Needs Franchises, Actually (But Not Only Franchises)

christopher-nolan-revisits-inception.jpg

Going to the movies sure used to be different. For decades and decades Hollywood released all different kinds of fare: rom-coms, survive-the-night thrillers, middlebrow dramas, historical epics, etc., etc. The biggest money-gobbler of 1988 was a drama about estranged brothers, and it starred Tom Cruise. Then in the aughts execs realized there was more money in making almost exclusively franchises, and now the aforementioned genres almost never play multiplexes, if they do at all. But are franchises entirely bad? The guy who made a smash hit one-off about the birth of nuclear weapons doesn’t think so.

“There’s always a balance in Hollywood between established titles that can assure a return in audience and give people more of what they want,” Christopher Nolan recently told The Associated Press, per Variety. “That’s always been a big part of the economics of Hollywood, and it pays for a lot of other types of films to be made and distributed.”

In other words, Hollywood studios shouldn’t put all their eggs in the franchise basket. Instead they should keep making them but use their grosses to make smaller fare. It’s basically how the industry worked for decades, until execs had the short-sighted idea of going only for the biggest fish — even though the smallest fish sometimes netted the most money. (This isn’t a great metaphor, but you get the idea.)

Besides, Nolan argued, who doesn’t love discovering something they’ve never seen before?

“But there also always has to be respect for the audience’s desire for something new. That’s one of the big thrills of going to the movies is, frankly, seeing a trailer for a movie you’ve never heard of or type of movie you haven’t seen,” Nolan said. “A healthy ecosystem in Hollywood is about a balance between the two things and always has been.”

Nolan’s sentiments are similar to what Martin Scorsese said back in September, in which he offered some suggestions on how to break moviegoers of the idea that the only movies are Marvel movies — ideas expressed mere months before the MCU finally had their first decent box office bomb.

Opposition to franchise saturation, Scorsese suggested, has to “come from the grassroots level. It’s gotta come from the filmmakers themselves. And you’ll have, you know, the Safdie brothers, and you’ll have Chris Nolan, you know what I mean? And hit ’em from all sides. Hit ’em from all sides, and don’t give up. Let’s see what you got. Go out there and do it. Go reinvent. Don’t complain about it. But it’s true, because we’ve got to save cinema.”

Nolan is one of today’s most popular filmmakers, and Scorsese is one of our most respected, so perhaps people will follow their advice. Who knows? Maybe one year the biggest moneymaker will a wacky comedy about three bachelors struggling to take care of a newborn, as it was in 1987.

You can watch Nolan’s AP interview in the video below.

Offset & Don Toliver Showed That They’re ‘Worth It’ With A Scorching Performance On ‘Fallon’

There are plenty of things “Say My Grace” rapper Offset has to be thankful for, including his beautiful children, wife and fellow entertainer Cardi B, and his hot career. To show his gratitude for his fans’ unwavering support of his latest album, Set It Off, Offset took a trip down to the studios of The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

While there, he was sure to bring friend and collaborator Don Toliver to deliver a scorching performance of their track “Worth It.” Toliver and Offset are known for their smooth dance moves, so neither is held back as they work the performance space. To bring some warmth to the otherwise cold New York City Thanksgiving Day holiday (November 23), the pair used a tropical background to warm up the chilly ambiance.

Last month, during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Offset revealed that in order to push himself out of his creative slump with his album, he thought back on the support he had from his late Migos member, Takeoff.

“Even on my own journey, I still feel his presence and his energy like, bro, ‘We got to go hard. We got to win. We got to win. This ain’t the end of it. We got to win.’ So that’s another thing that pushed me through is my boy, Take[off], man. He didn’t care that he didn’t care about the numbers, nothing. He like, ‘Bro, y’all’s sh*t hard.’ He’s just very supportive in that. I just keep that in the back of my mind and just keep pushing,” said Offset.

Watch the full performance of “Worth It” by Offset and Don Toliver above.
