California Got Larry David To Make A Coronavirus PSA For Idiots: ‘Go Home, Watch TV’

While much of the world hunkers down and does its best to practice good social distancing to limit the COVID-19 pandemic, some celebrities have pitched in to do their part to tell people to, essentially, stay home.

The latest is Larry David, who actually spoke out on behalf of the government of California in a Twitter message for “idiots” that have not listened to social distancing guidelines that can save lives.

David’s video message to the idiots came on Tuesday night and featured a somewhat grainy video of him, presumably at home and asking others to do the same.

“Obviously somebody put me up to this cause it’s generally not the kind of thing I do,” David said. “But I basically want to address the idiots out there. You know who you are. You’re going out, you’re socializing too close. It’s not good.”

David had a clear message for everyone not currently following the rules in California and some other places where things have locked down considerably.

“You’re hurting old people like me,” he said. “Well not me. I’ll never have anything to do with you. But you know, other, let’s say other old people who might be your relatives. Who the hell knows?”

Coronavirus, of course, impacts people of all ages, races and creeds, though older people are generally more susceptible to the virus’s more life-threatening elements. Still, the Curb Your Enthusiasm star framed the opportunity to social distance as one to do something you’re not often explicitly told is best for your health.

“The problem is you’re passing up a fantastic opportunity, a once in a lifetime opportunity — to stay in the house,” he said. “Sit on the couch and watch TV. I don’t know how you’re passing that up.”

David suggests that those who don’t pass that up are “not that bright,” which is a fair assessment given the clear medical advantages of staying home and attempting to flatten the curve, if not for yourself than the rest of humanity. Either way, the “go home, watch TV” mandate from David is both good advice from a TV star and just the right thing to do right now, so please listen to Larry David. It’s just what’s best for everyone right now.

Chuck D Clarifies Flavor Flav’s Status In Public Enemy On ‘People’s Party With Talib Kweli’

During an upcoming episode of People’s Party With Talib Kweli filmed previously to the coronavirus outbreak, Chuck D opened up about Flavor Flav’s dismissal from Public Enemy. The rap pioneer explained not only why Flavor Flav was sacked from the group, but also how he got put in the group in the first place, as well as rap fans’ unfortunate tendency to only notice rappers when bad things happen.

“Not to say that me and Flav were on two different pages,” Chuck clarifies in the above video clip from the episode. “Because we were always on two different pages. But we felt that over the past few years, Flavor’s stock is low… and my stock with Prophets Of Rage does what it does.” However, their divergent career paths weren’t the only reason that the two couldn’t stick together. “Long story short, we had the Bernie Sanders thing,” which he said was the last straw in their disagreement.

“Number one, Flav don’t know the difference between Bernie Sanders, Barry Sanders, or Colonel Sanders,” Chuck jokes. “Public Enemy Radio went up, his lawyer sent out a cease-and-desist, I’m like, ‘Good move.’ Then publicly, ‘Man, you don’t f*cking sue me again.’ … Boom, f*ck that, you fired, dude. That’s my last thing with you.” He did clarify that Flav wasn’t “fired” because he’s technically a partner in Public Enemy. “You don’t fire partners,” he says.

He even teases a new project from the pair: Food As A Machine Gun, which is coming soon.

People’s Party is a weekly interview show hosted by Talib Kweli with big-name guests exploring hip-hop, culture, and politics. Subscribe via Apple, Spotify, or YouTube.

Don Toliver Explained How His ‘No Regrets’ Collaboration With Eminem Came Together

Don Toliver’s audience has widened considerably after having his breakout moment on Cactus Jack Records’ compilation album, Jackboys. Fans of the Houston rapper, both new and old, then sought a new project from him as his last effort, Donny Womack. That came 2018, just a day after Travis Scott’s Astroworld, where he made his star-making appearance on “Can’t Say.” While his follow-up project, Heaven Or Hell, arrived earlier this month, the wait for it was momentarily numbed by his appearance of Eminem’s surprise album, Music To Be Murdered By.

Providing the hook for “No Regrets,” fans of both Eminem and Don Toliver, were taken aback by the collaboration between the two rappers. Heading over to Ebro Darden’s Apple Music radio show, Rap Life With Ebro Darden, Toliver opened about the collaboration.

Toliver revealed that it was in fact Eminem who reached out and requested to have him on the track.

“I was in the Cactus Jack studio… and I was recording, so I got that whiff of that and we flipped that on and did that quick,” he said. Ebro then asked Toliver who he believes put him on Eminem’s radar, to which he replied, producer D.A. Damon.

“I think Em was already on tip of what I had going on but who really I think plugged the spot was D.A. Got That Dope,” he said, refering to D.A. Doman. Toliver later revealed that it took him “an hour, two hours” to turn in his contribution to the song, which would be released as a part of the album a couple of days later.

Drake Apparently Helped Tory Lanez Set An Instagram Live Record On ‘Quarantine Radio’

Continuing to supply top-notch entertainment for those in quarantine, Tory Lanez has been on quite the roll lately thanks to his newly-launched Quarantine Radio show held for fans on Instagram Live. The almost-daily livestream session invites celebrities to join and discuss their life in quarantine, and Bryson Tiller, Justin Bieber, Jacquees, Megan Thee Stallion, Trina, Tinashe, and 21 Savage have all made appearances.

Following the celebrity appearances, Quarantine Radio then moves onto its main event: a twerking contest where the contestants are fans who tuned into the livestream. On Tuesday, however, it was the appearance from a high-profile guest that served as the highlight for the day’s show.

By far the biggest guest to join Tory’s Quarantine Radio, Drake hopped on the show to join in on the fun after repeated requests from Tory for his appearance. Soon after Drake’s addition to the livestream, the number of viewers in the Instagram Live spiked considerably. According to DJ Akademiks, this set a hip hop streaming record for the most viewers in an Instagram livestream, with over 300,000 showing up. Drake’s appearance helped break the record of over 150,000 viewers previously held by Taylor Swift. In celebration, the two Canadian acts took a shot together, as Tory has a few times with his Quarantine Radio guests.

The new accomplishment comes just a day after Drake shared the first photos of his two-year-old son Adonis in an emotional Instagram post.
