An Old Lindsey Graham Tweet Is Biting Him In The Butt After He Threatened Mitch McConnell For Not Supporting Trump

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has made no secret (especially in recent months) of criticizing Trump’s actions during the Jan. 6 MAGA insurrection. This has not gone over well with Senator Lindsey Graham, who’s still inexplicably worshipping at the altar of a voted-out president who’s still (falsely) insisting that he won the election. Graham even delivered a skeevy “I miss Trump” that looked vaguely like a hostage video, but these days, he’s not seeming conflicted at all.

Graham appeared on Fox News to speak with Sean Hannity on Wednesday night. The host groused over the “swampiness” of McConnell, and Graham made his position known, essentially with a threat to McConnell’s position. “If you want to be a Republican leader in the House or the Senate, you have to have a working relationship with Trump,” Graham declared while adding that Trump would definitely get the 2024 GOP nom. “Im not going to vote for anybody that can’t have a working relationship with Trump.”

So Graham and Hannity are basically telling McConnell to “bend the knee” to a leader who’s taken his party into far-right, alienating territory.

As a result, a certain 2016 tweet from Graham himself — “If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed…….and we will deserve it” — is now back in circulation.

Granted, the quote never really went away, and it likely never will disappear, at least not until Graham (if ever) leaves the Senate (or denounces Trump, which probably will never happen).

The Xbox One Was Quietly Discontinued By Microsoft At The End Of 2020

The Xbox One has an odd legacy. It’s seen by many as a failure for Microsoft after it failed to continue the momentum that was built with the Xbox 360, but in the latter half of the console’s lifespan, it helped propel many of the features that Microsoft brought into the next generation with the Xbox Series X/S. Services like Game Pass, cloud gaming, and having a digital-only console were all ideas Microsoft began exploring on the Xbox One.

As we’ve moved into the next generation of consoles, Microsoft has so far continued to support the Xbox One. New games can still be played on it and most services that have come to the Series X/S have so far been available on the One as well. However, while Microsoft is supporting the Xbox One consoles that are currently out there, that does not mean they’ve continued to produce it. With the recent news that Sony was planning to continue creating PlayStation 4 consoles in 2021, a lot of people wondered how much longer the Xbox One was going to stay in production. Turns out, not very long as it was actually discontinued to little fanfare at the end of 2020. Via The Verge.

“To focus on production of Xbox Series X / S, we stopped production for all Xbox One consoles by the end of 2020,” says Cindy Walker, senior director of Xbox console product marketing, in a statement to The Verge.

This was initially a bit of a surprise to read. Xbox Ones are still readily available at most online or brick-and-mortar stores while the Xbox Series X/S and competing next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 5 have been extremely difficult to find. Turns out, while supply has been an obvious issue, it’s just an example of how many people want these consoles. According to CEO of Xbox Phil Spencer, on a podcast with The New York Times Kara Swisher, they’ve sold more of the Xbox Series X/S than any Xbox before it.

“When you think about trying to go get an Xbox or a new PlayStation right now in the market, they’re really hard to find. And it’s not because supply is smaller than it’s ever been. Supply is actually as big as it’s ever been. It’s that demand is exceeding the supply for all of us. At this point, we’ve sold more of this generation of Xboxes, which is Xbox Series X and S, than we had any previous version of Xboxes. So it’s our job to get the supply there to meet that demand.”

Still, even with Spencer telling us that the Series X/S is selling more than any Xbox before it, with the console becoming so difficult to find and Microsoft still supporting the One it would have made sense for them to continue producing it the way PlayStation has continued making PlayStation 4’s. However, considering it was discontinued at the end of 2020 and nobody noticed it clearly hasn’t been that big of a problem.

Will Arnett Has Been Tapped To Host A Murder Mystery Improv Show Featuring Conan O’Brien, Sharon Stone And More

Will Arnett is slated to add another Netflix show to his roster, this time as Detective Terry Seattle, a homicide detective on the streaming service’s latest celebrity-filled shows. But Murderville has a unique twist: none of the celebrity guests are given the script beforehand.

Arnett, complete with a creepy 80’s detective stache, will be assigned comedy icons like Conan O’Brien, Ken Jeong, and Kumail Nanjiani to help him solve various whodunit murder cases. Together, Arnett’s Detective Seattle and his celebrity guests will have to improvise their way to solve various crimes, armed only with clues (and a loose script) to help crack the case. Celebrity guests also include Sharon Stone, Annie Murphy, and Marshawn Lynch, who will have to name the killer before time runs out.

As with most American comedies, Murderville is based on Murder In Successville, an award-winning BBC3 series. Arnett has had success with Netflix this far, with the critically-acclaimed BoJack Horsemen, Wet Hot American Summer, and Arrested Development (no need to mention Flaked.) Arnett told The Hollywood Reporter it was a hard sell, but once O’Brien joined, it all came together. “I have to give these people credit because it’s freakin’ scary as shit.”

Murderville will consist of six episodes, and premiered February 3rd on Netflix.

Maren Morris Announces ‘Humble Quest,’ An Album About Her Journey To ‘Self-Assuredness’

Grammy-nominated country singer Maren Morris kicked off the start of her new era of music last week with the breezy track “Circles Around This Town,” a song which chronicled her rise to success in Nashville. Now giving fans more information about what they can expect to hear from her soon, Morris officially announces her upcoming album Humble Quest.

Sharing the story behind how her album came to be in a vulnerable Instagram post, Morris wrote that the pandemic made her think deeply about her purpose in music. She reflected on the term “humble” and all the ways she’s been humbled over the past few years:

“I’ve also always found the word ‘humble’ perplexing. It’s more misused than anything. I frequently hear it assigned to people who are ‘relatable’ or ‘down to earth’ despite their rise to success. I even get a chuckle whenever I hear it used threateningly against someone, like humility is something one can lose if they’re not careful with their self-assuredness or confidence. I mostly hear it used by complete strangers who don’t even know the person they’re applying it to. […]

It turns out, this pandemic did humble me. Shooting off my mouth one time too many humbled me, the death of a beloved friend and producer humbled me, motherhood and marriage humbled me. ‘Humble’ began to feel more like a grounded state of understanding oneself; not so much by being relatable to or understood by all. What I also discovered is that the songs I was managing to compose during this time were the most authentic and light lyrics that have ever flowed from my pend. They weren’t fitting with the times, they were distracting and eventually saving me from the times. So, here are the stories of my rises, my overshares, my appreciation of Midwestern guys who stand at least a foot taller than me, my lullabies, my wine-soaked conversations with a dear friend and my final goodbye to one.”

Nobody Cared When Tears For Fears’ Singer Sang ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’ In A Karaoke Bar

“Everybody Wants To Rule The World” was a big one for Tears For Fears (to state the obvious): The 1985 single is one of the band’s two No. 1 songs in the US, along with “Shout.” It remains popular today, too, as it’s easily their most-played track on Spotify with well over 600 million streams. It’s also become a karaoke favorite, so much so that even singer Curt Smith busted it out in a packed karaoke bar one time. The way he tells it, though, nobody realized it was him singing.

In a new NME interview, Smith discussed his relationship with the cast of Psych (he’s appeared on the show as himself multiple times) and an anticlimactic night of karaoke they all had together, saying, “They’re all big karaoke singers and dragged me along one time. I said, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if I got up and sang one of our songs?’ So in the middle of a full karaoke bar, I went up and sang ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’ and no one in there paid me any attention. No one realized it was me and it was hilarious!”

He was also asked if he enjoys hearing when rappers like Ye, Nas, and Drake sample Tears For Fears in their music, and he said, “Yes, but only when the song turns into something else. We had issues with the Kanye one [“Coldest Winter“] because he thought he deserved 80 percent of the publishing when all he did was steal the entire song and change the lyric. But the Nas version [“Rule“] I liked. I don’t know the Drake song [“Lust For Life“]. I would have thought my children would have played that to me, but clearly they’re not on the ball!”

Check out the full feature here and revisit “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” below.

Report: Derrick Jones Jr. Will Miss 4-6 Weeks With A Bone Bruise In His Knee

The Chicago Bulls entered Wednesday night as the East’s top seed by 2.5 games over the Brooklyn Nets ahead of a showdown between the two best teams in the East on national TV. After a highly entertaining first half, the Nets eventually ran away with a dominant win in what felt like a statement win from Brooklyn in one of their first games as a complete roster with Kyrie Irving against one of the league’s top teams.

On the Chicago side, it was a disappointing result, particularly with the avalanche of points Brooklyn scored in the second half, but the bigger concern for the Bulls was their health. Already without their best perimeter defender in Alex Caruso as well as Javonte Green due to injuries, Chicago saw Derrick Jones Jr. (starting in place of Green) leave the game with a knee injury just a minute into the game after he came down awkwardly and had his right knee bend backwards.

Jones Jr. was helped to the locker room and did not return, and on Thursday the results of further testing revealed a bone bruise that will keep him out for a month-plus, per Shams Charania.

The good news is that, for as ugly as the injury looked on replay, he avoided any structural damage, but his absence is significant for a Bulls team short on wing depth with Patrick Williams already sidelined for the year due to a wrist injury. For a team with sudden championship dreams, it will be interesting to see how they approach the trade deadline, as there’s a clear need to bolster their depth at the four spot, but whether they want to part with any significant assets to upgrade that position considerably rather than just adding another bench rotation guy remains to be seen.

Bart Scott Suggested Players Take Viagra To ‘Get That Circulation Going’ Before Bills-Pats In The Snow

One of the best games of the NFL’s 2022 Wild Card weekend should be the AFC East showdown between the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots. The two teams split their season series this year, only it came with the catch: The road team won both games.

This Saturday’s game will take place in Buffalo, where it’s expected to be cold as all hell because it is Western New York in January. The last time the two teams played in Buffalo, it was in crazy wind and snow and the Patriots won despite only throwing three passes all game.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday, Bills quarterback Josh Allen said that his No. 1 priority is staying warm, because, “I got bad circulation in my feet. My toes get really cold and they go numb a little bit. So just keeping those suckers warm and as dry as possible, as well as the hands — obviously that’s a big emphasis for quarterbacks, you need your hands to throw. So keeping those extremities as warm as possible.”

One day later and ESPN’s Bart Scott, who played his fair share of games in cold environments during his NFL career, has some advice for Allen and any other Buffalo player concerned about the conditions.

“Can I give you a suggestion for him?” Scott asked on ESPN’s Get Up, because irony is dead. “Josh Allen listening? Can people get this message to him? Vi. A. Gra. Take some Viagra before the game, baby, because that’ll get that circulation going right.”

Scott went on to say that plenty of players during his NFL career took Viagra “because Viagra opens up the blood vessels.” He is not the first ex-player to make this claim, as Chad OchoCinco has said in the past he did the same thing. Anyway, word of this got back to Bills tight end Dawson Knox, who said the following:

The Bills throw a lot, which elongates games, and based on some Googling I have done, there is no word on what a football player who took Viagra should do if a game takes longer than four hours.

Rick Ross And DreamDoll’s Chaotic ‘Wiggle’ Video Features A Drive-Thru Strip Club

Rick Ross and DreamDoll put on a chaotic carnival of clapping and cash in their video for “Wiggle,” from Ross’ new album Richer Than I Ever Been. “Wiggle” is the latest single from Richer Than I Ever Been, following “Outlawz” and “Little Havana,” and it’s the second single to get a music video treatment (“Outlawz” was the first).

The premise is simple — what if there were a drive-thru strip club (this is actually a thing, BTW)? The result is predictably debauched, with a line of cars cruising through a canvas big top tent and drivers throwing piles of money out their windows to the twerking dancers on socially distanced stages. While Rozay gets his back rubbed, Dream pops out of her vehicle to shake hands with the dancers, paying props to her fellow women and taking her own shift on one of the poles with an elaborate leopard print bodysuit on.

In addition to releasing his new album, Ross has been extending his reach as a businessman. He recently teamed up with the CEO of Rap Snacks to start his own cannabis line, Hip Hemp.

FKA Twigs Offers A Final ‘Caprisongs’ Preview With The Rema Collaboration ‘Jealousy’

Tomorrow, the world will have a new FKA Twigs project, a 17-track mixtape called Caprisongs. Ahead of then, though, Twigs has shared what will presumably be the final song shared from the album before its release, “Jealousy,” which features Nigerian singer/rapper Rema.

Twigs spoke about the track with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, saying:

“I started that song with Fred Gibson a couple years ago and it was just a tiny snippet and I was so excited about it. Sometimes you leave the studio and there’s a really rough demo and it’s sort of gobbledegook words. I was like, ‘Wow, like that melody was really exciting to me and I hadn’t done anything like that.’ […] Then I sat on it for a long time. Then when I was in lockdown, I ended up connecting with El Guincho Pablo a lot over FaceTime. It was the first lockdown when it was really hardcore and I was isolating alone and feeling like quite crazy. To be able to connect with El Guincho over FaceTime, it saved me every single day. […] We got in, we finished it, and then we were like, ‘Oh, it could really have someone else in the second verse.’ El Guincho was like, ‘Rema.’ […] It was actually through one of my oldest friends that we ended up connecting and finishing the track through her, which was really sweet. To me, that’s the soul of the record. I’ve really, as you said in the beginning of the conversation, pushed myself to connect more and to be even more collaborative and to grow and step outside of myself.”

Listen to “Jealousy” above.

Caprisongs is out 1/14 via Young Recordings/Atlantic. Pre-order it here.

FKA Twigs is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Sun June’s Dreamy Ballad ‘Reminded’ Is One Last Preview Of Their Expanded ‘Somewhere’ Album

It’s been nearly a year since Austin, Texas five-piece band Sun June released their standout sophomore album Somewhere. Now as the band prepares to hit the road now that they can finally tour behind their album, which includes a stop at this year’s SXSW festival, Sun June expand their original LP with a few more tracks, including the pastoral number “Reminded.”

Echoing the wistful chords and dreamy vocals heard on Sun June’s sophomore album, “Reminded” features swirling melodies and poetic lyrics that evoke a keen sense of nostalgia. “Reminded” arrives on the forthcoming expanded version of Somewhere, which features their recent track “Easy” as well as the previously unheard song “Tom Petty.”

Speaking about the inspiration behind the new track, Sun June singer Laura Colwell says:

“‘Reminded’ is about being captivated by someone you have a bad history with and wanting to reconcile with past mistakes, despite it being the most unhealthy decision. It’s about gazing narrowly into an old flame… Basically, it’s the sexiest song we’ve ever written. The song leans so far into romance that we thought it would be fun to add some sax. Justin got to arrange it all, and then we had local saxophonist David Alvarez (from Medellin Collection, and Hyah!) lay it down.”

Listen to “Reminded” above.

Somewhere (Expanded) is out 1/14 via Run For Cover Records/Keeled Scales. Pre-order it here.
