Young Fathers Announce The New Album ‘Heavy Heavy’ And Share The Cathartic And Turbulent ‘I Saw’

Nearly five years after the release of the divinely explosive Cocoa Sugar, Mercury Prize-winning Scottish trio Young Fathers will be back with a new album. The band announced today that their fourth album, Heavy Heavy, is due out on February 3rd of next year and Kayus Bankole, Alloysious Massaquoi, and G. Hastings made it all in a sheltered state in a basement studio where they took a, “Let the demons out and deal with it,” approach, Bankole says. “Make sense of it after.”

Along with the announcement, they’ve released the album’s second single, “I Saw.” It’s furious, cultish bravado is in contrast to the slow-burning pace of the emotive “Geronimo,” which came out in July and is nothing short of one of the best songs of 2022.

The video for “I Saw” was directed by David Uzochukwu and pits the music to a carnal, contortionist, and sometimes grotesque fireside seance on the beach. It aptly speaks to the sentiment of the song, which the band describes as, “A big bully with sh*te down their leg, still swaggering. That pamphlet through your door blaming the establishment and immigrants for everything going wrong. The stench of long-dead empire, trudging along, a psychological hammer to your head in every step. The delusion.”

Watch the video for “I Saw” above and check out the album artwork and tracklist for Heavy Heavy below.

Damion Lee’s Falling Game-Winner Capped Off A 22-Point Comeback By The Suns Over The Mavs

Five months ago the Dallas Mavericks went into Phoenix and ended the Suns season in shocking fashion, dismantling the 1-seed in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals in a 33-point win.

That sparked what was a rather dismal offseason for the Suns, with the most notable on-court storyline being Deandre Ayton’s future, with them unable to find a sign-and-trade for the young star center (who was benched in that Game 7) and ultimately matching an offer sheet on him. Because the NBA loves a good mess, they set the Suns up for a chance at redemption or mockery in their opener on Wednesday night by sending those same Mavs to Phoenix to start the season.

In the first half, it looked like we were headed for yet another blowout win by Dallas, as Luka Doncic (35 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists) and Christian Wood (25 points, 8 rebounds) torched the Suns, leading by 17 at the half and as many as 22 early in the third quarter. However, the Suns would show some fight this time around, led by Devin Booker’s 28-point night and a second half surge from Ayton, who finished with 18 points and 10 boards, and finished off by an unlikely source.

The Suns would claw their way back into the game, despite the best efforts of Wood who at one point in the fourth scored 16 consecutive points for the Mavs before heading to the bench for a spell, despite Chris Paul and Cam Johnson sitting down the stretch in the fourth. Cam Payne and Damion Lee took their places and the latter put forth some heroics, scoring 11 points (all in the fourth) including the game-winner on a ridiculous falling away shot on the baseline.

Doncic, who had just tied the game driving to the paint for an and-1, did not try to get downhill again and left a deep stepback three to win short off the rim, giving the Suns a wild comeback win that will raise spirits considerably in Phoenix and be a tough pill to swallow in Dallas.

The Mavs will still be pleased with what Wood showed in his debut, but losing that game is brutal given the lead they held and how dominant they appeared. For Phoenix, what would’ve been a loss that sparked a million thinkpieces on the end of the Suns as we know them became a gutty win that shows a resilience from this team we haven’t seen since their Finals run and puts to rest, at least for a bit, the questions of whether this group has run its course together.

‘The Crown’ Won’t Even Film A Recreation Of Princess Diana’s Fatal Car Crash

According to Deadline, Netflix’s The Crown will not film a version of Princess Diana’s fatal car crash for the episode that deals with her death.

“We’ve been dreading getting to this point. The countdown is two weeks and while we’re calmly carrying on it’s fair to acknowledge that there’s a certain anxiety; a palpable sense of being slightly on edge. I mean, there’s bombshell sensitivity surrounding this one,” a source on the production said.

The series is currently filming its sixth season, which includes Princess Diana’s (Elizabeth Debicki) death. Not filming the crash is a no-brainer in an era where no-brainers are something a production might consider, so the production is wise both to leave it out altogether and to inform potentially concerned fans about their intentions. Instead, viewers will see a before and after.

“It’s the run-up: the car leaving The Ritz after midnight with paparazzi in pursuit and then the aftermath with the British Ambassador to France swinging into action with the Foreign Office and then the subsequent constitutional aftermath,” the source said.

While avoiding the ghoulish act of filming such a recreation, the production will still have to navigate the murky waters of how they portray Prince Charles (now King Charles III) in the sixth season leading up to and after Princess Diana’s death. Or if they can earn Dame Judi Dench’s viewership ever again.

The fifth season of The Crown hits Netflix November 9th.

‘The People We Hate At The Wedding’ Trailer Turns Nuptials Into The Bad Place

Grant Ginder’s uproarious novel about a family falling even further apart during the oldest sibling’s wedding has finally gotten an adaptation, and the trailer looks glorious. The People We Hate At The Wedding feels slightly conventional here, but the promise is something to fill a Thanksgiving family dinner with gasps and dropped jaws. That goes double for if they follow the novel hand-in-hand.

Here’s the official synopsis from Prime Video:

“In the hilariously raunchy comedy The People We Hate at the Wedding, dysfunctional American siblings Alice (Kristen Bell) and Paul (Ben Platt) along with their ever-optimistic mom (Allison Janney), are invited to the British wedding of their estranged half-sister Eloise (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) as a chance for them to reconnect as – more or less – adults, and learn to love each other like they once did.”

Everyone looks fantastic here. Platt appears appropriately put out at every turn, Janney cloying and wry, and Kristen Bell dancing in an American flag bikini while cruising in a hot tub down the Thames gives off some serious Eleanor Shellstrop vibes.

Oh, and Dustin Milligan drops in with the same handsome softy act he perfected on Schitt’s Creek. This really is a strong cast of fun people gearing up to be ridiculous.

Directed by Claire Scanlon (Set it Up), the screenplay comes from sibling writing team Wendy and Lizzie Molyneux, best known for Bob’s Burgers. It looks like it earns the R-rating while remaining upbeat and sarcastically hopeful for every dysfunctional crew. The People We Hate at the Wedding hits Prime Video on November 18th.

Lana Del Rey’s Backpack Was Stolen, Including Her Computer, Camcorders, And Hard Drives With New Music

Lana Del Rey has been churning out albums excessively within recent years, with Chemtrails Over The Country Club, Blue Banisters, and Norman F*cking Rockwell. She even published a poetry book while she was at it. The singer was planning on not slowing down, but now she might have to due to her recent confession that her things have been stolen.

The pop star posted a video on her private Instagram, @honeymoon, talking to her phone camera. “So I want to talk to you guys about something for a minute,” she starts off. “A few months ago, I parked my car on Melrose Place and I stepped away for a minute and the one time I left my backpack inside my car someone broke all of the windows and took it. Inside of it was my computer and my three camcorders and my hard drives. I had to remotely wipe the computer that had my 200-page book for Simon & Schuster which I didn’t have backed up on the Cloud because we do not have any Cloud systems that we access.”

She continued, “Despite that, people are still able this week to remotely access my phone and leak our songs and personal photos. I just want to mention that despite all of this happening, I am confident in the record to come. And despite so many safety factors in so many different levels, I really want to persist and make the best art I can.”

A Wife Of One Of The Try Guys Also Has A Story About James Corden Allegedly Being Rude To Restaurant Staff

There’s a lot going on right now, not the least being a midterm election that may dramatically alter the course of everyone’s lives. We need a mental break. Perhaps that’s why everyone has been obsessed with stories of James Corden being a jerk. It began when a legendary New York City restauranteur (temporarily) banned the late night host from one of his joints because he was repeatedly rude to his staff. Now someone is chiming in with their own tale.

As per Page Six, Becky Habersberger, the wife of one of the Try Guys (no, not that one), dropped a TikTok video in which she goes off about once witnessing the Cats alum blowing up on a lowly busboy at a Los Angeles eatery. She said she saw Corden trying to get a table at the Los Feliz Italian spot Little Dom’s. Alas, they close between lunch and dinner and Corden had caught them at the wrong time. But Corden wasn’t having it.

“[The busboy] is telling James Corden he can get him a reservation right when they open,” Habersberger said, adding, “He was trying to be really accommodating.” Instead, she said Corden yelled at him, saying, “A lot of good that does me, mate, a lot of good that does me.”

Harbersberger clearly thought of her own encounter when she heard Balthazar owner Keith McNally calling Corden a “tiny cretin of a man” for, among other things, blowing up on a waiter who screwed up his wife’s all-yolk omelette. “Corden has since “apologized profusely,” but Harbersberger isn’t having it.

“If he was really sorry, he would have apologized to the server and not the owner of the restaurant,” she said. She also recalled her own restaurant days. “I was a waitress at a super bougie Beverly Hills hotel rooftop restaurant,” she recalled. “Some [stars] were awesome, some were trash and I remember to this day who the trash bags are.

“I’m not surprised by all this James Corden information coming out because if you are rude to one server, you are absolutely rude to many servers,” she said. “That is not a one-off, ‘I was having a bad day’ kind of thing.”

John Cale Announces His New Album ‘Mercy’ And Releases The Lead Single ‘Story Of Blood’ With Weyes Blood

John Cale is back with the announcement of Mercy, his first new album of original songs in a decade. Today, he released the lead single “Story Of Blood,” which features the one and only indie singer Weyes Blood, who also has an LP arriving soon. She’s not the only guest on Mercy. It’ll also have Animal Collective, Sylvan Esso, Laurel Halo, Tei Shi, and Actress.

“I’d been listening to Weyes Blood’s latest record and remembered Natalie’s puritanical vocals,” the former Velvet Underground member said about deciding to work with her. “I thought if I could get her to come and sing with me on the ‘Swing your soul’ section, and a few other harmonies, it would be beautiful. What I got from her was something else! Once I understood the versatility in her voice, it was as if I’d written the song with her in mind all along. Her range and fearless approach to tonality was an unexpected surprise. There’s even a little passage in there where she’s a dead-ringer for Nico.”

Paolo Banchero Put Cory Joseph On A Poster In His NBA Debut

Paolo Banchero made his NBA debut on Wednesday night in Detroit as the Magic went on the road to face the Pistons in a matchup of teams loaded with young talent. The most recent No. 1 overall pick did not disappoint for Orlando, as he set a new Magic rookie record with 27 points to go along with nine rebounds and five assists, putting on a show from the get-go against Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, and the equally exciting Pistons.

In the fourth quarter with the Magic trailing, Banchero put forth the highlight of the night in the NBA, as he threw down a massive dunk on the break over Cory Joseph for an and-1 finish that had the Orlando bench going crazy.

Joseph makes the bold choice to try and slide in front of the massive rookie and pays the price with a knee to the chest, a place on the wrong end of a highlight, and a foul for good measure. The additional angles of the dunk show how Banchero just flies through Joseph and seems to only go higher and higher as he throws it down and gives Joseph a staredown after.

The Magic, who started the game on fire before the Pistons battled back to take control, weren’t able to complete the comeback (thanks to an Isaiah Stewart dagger three, of all things), but even in a loss it was an encouraging showing from their young stars, headlined by Banchero’s debut, but also with Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs having big nights. On the other side Detroit got big nights from Cunningham and Ivey, but the difference was veteran sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic catching fire from deep, as both teams look primed for a step forward this season.

Holy Crap, The Story Behind Harrison Ford And Ke Huy Quan Reuniting After 38 Years Is Something Else: ‘Are You Short Round?’

It’s been a big year for Ke Huy Quan. In the ‘80s, the Vietnamese-American performer was one of the era’s biggest kid stars, most famously for playing Short Round, the precocious child sidekick in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Recently he reappeared, playing Michelle Yeoh’s devoted, sadsack husband in Everything Everywhere All at Once. More recently, he reunited with his Doom star Harrison Ford. Images of the two hugging, big smiles on their faces, at September D23 Expo turned into one of the convention’s biggest moments. But it turns out the story behind it is even more moving.

“We were at the D23 event and I was told Harrison was gonna be there,” Quan told The New York Times’ Kyle Buchanan. “We’re in this green room with so many actors, producers, and directors, and the person who was assigned to assist me said, ‘Harrison Ford is right outside the green room. Would you want to go say hi?’”

He went on:

“I’m thinking, ‘Of course! I haven’t seen him in 38 years,’” Quan continued. “So I walk out and I see him about 15 feet away talking to Phoebe Waller-Bridge, they’re there to promote Indy 5. And as I walk close, my heart is pounding. I’m thinking, ‘Is he gonna recognize me? The last time he saw me, I was a little kid.’”

As the photos evidence, Quan needn’t have worried. “As I get closer, he turns and points his finger at me, and he has that classic, famous, grumpy Harrison Ford look,” the actor elaborated. “I go, ‘Oh my gosh, he probably thinks I’m a fan and he’s gonna tell me to not come near him.’ But he looks and points at me and says, ‘Are you Short Round?’ Immediately, I was transported back to 1984, when I was a little kid, and I said, ‘Yes, Indy.’ And he said, ‘Come here,’ and gave me a big hug.”

And that’s why that photo was so amazing. They look incredibly stoked to see each other, especially the famously grouchy Ford. Anyway, dry your eyes, just as you did when you saw that recent reunion video of Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.
