One of the most humane trends in the past 30 years of American life has been the decline in greyhound racing. After hitting its peak in 1985, state laws have led to the closure of racetracks across the country.
By the end of 2022, there will only be two active greyhound tracks in the United States, both in West Virginia.
The change in attitudes toward dog racing has meant an increase in greyhounds being rescued and living second lives as family pets. Greyhounds are great around children, have happy dispositions and, even though they’re fast on the track, they don’t require a lot of exercise.
This has led them to have the nickname the “45 mile-per-hour couch potato.”
Occupational therapist Taylor Huerta adopted a greyhound named Millie in 2018 and the pair has become quite the hit on social media. Huerta has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a doctoral degree in occupational therapy.
So it wasn’t long before Millie became one of her subjects of study.
“Psychology is a major aspect of my career and has always been a fascination of mine,” she told Bored Panda.
After adopting Millie, Huerta realized that her dog was anxious so she put on her therapist’s hat and began learning all she could about dog psychology.
“From separation anxiety to social anxiety, I got a first-hand glimpse into the psychology of a dog. It became my passion to educate myself on [the subject], and through many hours of research, I gained a better understanding of Millie,” Huerta explained.
She began posting videos on social media to help bridge the gap between humans and their fur babies. Heurta calls Millie a “noodle horse” because of her equine-looking features and spindly limbs that contort themselves into impossible shapes.
The result is a series of super-cute videos featuring Millie that are so popular, the MillieTheNoodleHorse TikTok page has more than 1.2 million followers. Here’s a selection of some of the cutest and most informative videos that’ll teach you a bit more about your four-legged friend.

Huerta and Millie are doing an incredible job of making dog psychology fun and informative. Their TikTok page is a great way to help spread awareness about our incredibly adorable, yet complex, four-legged friends. The better we understand one another the more wonderful and fulfilling our relationships will be.
Who wore it better, Ryan Reynolds as Will Ferrell, or Will Ferrell as Ryan Reynolds? The Hollywood friend duo pulled a fun switcheroo on their late night guest spots, reminding us once again that they are national treasures.
The plan was: Reynolds would appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to promote his new Netflix movie “Red Notice.” Ferrell would be plugging his new Apple TV+ series “The Shrink Next Door” on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon. You know, standard protocol.
Reynolds and Ferrell had something different in mind. They each told their respective hosts that, unfortunately, Ryan-slash-Will couldn’t make it, but that they would each “fill in” for each other and of course promote each other’s projects.
As Jimmy Fallon introduced Will Ferrell, Reynolds waltzed out as “Don’t Fear the Reaper” played (cause, you know, more cowbell). He “just happened” to be walking his dog near the studio.
After calling Ferrell a “late night talk show slut” and assuring us all that his sex life with Blake Lively is “totally normal,” Reynolds adamantly warned Fallon that he would not be talking about “Red Notice.” He even threatened Fallon with a backhand if the title were mentioned.
He instead pushed to play a clip from “The Shrink Next Door.” After calling it “something like an Ant Man sequel ⊠it’s Ant Man adjacent.” I mean, the series does star Paul Rudd as well. So maybe Reynolds is spot on.
Meanwhile, Ferrell strolled up to Jimmy Kimmel sporting Star Wars pajama bottoms, mentioning that he too lives close to the studio. Inside Hollywood’s Magic Castle, in fact. And then he proceeded to fail hilariously at a magic trick.
Ferrell chatted with Jimmy Kimmel about everything from Halloween costumes for his (Reynolds’) three daughters to Canadian politics. Oh and let’s not forget about the lovely bit where Kimmel showed a picture of Reynolds’ ripped physique, and Ferrell lifted his own shirt to compare.
Audiences also got to find out that Blake Lively is a “great cook,” capable of making oatmeal and “killer nachos.”
While talking about “Red Notice,” Ferrell noted that everyone was wearing suits, so you at least knew the movie was going to be “classy.” Though Ferrell said he hadn’t yet seen the movie, he still gave it a plug joking that “I think it’s gonna be good. I mean, we hope, right?”
Ferrell went on to say, “God, I could eat that Ryan Reynolds up with a spoon.” Find yourself a friend who has that kind of passion for you.
Because Reynolds is a master at authentic and savvy marketing, I’m guessing that this idea was at least partially his. His genius has been behind other clever marketing moves for “Deadpool,” Mint Mobile and Match.com.
And it’s not like this is the first time a Ferrell-Reynolds comedy combo struck viral gold. Remember earlier this year when they had their own rendition of Grace Kelly on TikTok? If you somehow missed out on this delight, watch below.
Though (sadly) there is no future project slated that has both Reynolds and Ferrell starring, you can watch their Christmas movie musical “Spirited,” which they made over the summer. Yes, you read that right. Ryan Reynolds. Will Ferrell. Singing. Together. The world is once again a beautiful place.
For the past two years, schools have relied on the internet to conduct at-home school, either exclusively or in a hybrid format. Though we’re fortunate to live in a time when online learning is actually an option, it’s not been amazing for many as Zoom fatigue, home fatigue and general pandemic fatigue set in.
Most kids can’t do anything about that, but an 11-year-old named Elijah took matters into his own hands when he’d had enough of the COVID-19 life. And hoo boy, did it get him into serious hot water.
Elijah’s mother, Victoria (@victoriaprettymuch) shared the story on TikTok in a video that’s been viewed more than 2 million times. “If anyone wants a child who’s 11, come get him,” she wrote, then calmly described how she’d been holding the story in for seven months while everything got worked out.
The story goes that in April of 2021, Victoria was called into the school to talk about some issues with her son. The school told her that her son wasn’t in any danger, but he was “in major trouble.” When she arrived at the school, she was met by four police officers, the district attorney’s office, the superintendent, the principal, three IT techniciansâand her son, who was in tears.
As it turns out, the kid had been controlling the entire school district’s internet for the past three months. This fifth grader had managed to hack the system and turn it off and on whenever he felt like it. Victoria had to hire a federal attorney because the school wanted to press federal charges.
“What have I given birth to, Rainman?” she asked. “If you want him, come get him. I’m giving him away.”
The video got such an overwhelming response, Victoria posted a follow-up video answering some questions and explaining the outcome of the situation with her “baby genius.” The district attorney decided not to press charges because of his age. Instead, they were recommended to a first-time juvenile offenders program, where Elijah’s had to complete five tasks for his record to be wiped clean.
One of the tasks was to build a video gameâand he built a basketball video game in two hours.
Reply to @sweetest_taboo91 Hopefully we answered all questions lol đ
Like, holy moly, kid. A whole video game in two hours? He really is a prodigy.
People’s reactions to the story are mostly to laugh and express support for the kid’s tech-savviness. Obviously, committing cybercrime is not how he should be utilizing his talents, but he’s only 11 and this is a good time to learn that lesson. (Also, haven’t we all wanted to turn off some annoying parts of pandemic life for a while? Who can blame him for figuring out how?)
Some people joked that those “punishments” meted out to him were probably tests from the FBI to recruit him. Loads of people working in IT were impressed. One person asked, “Can he hack Sallie Mae?”
Really, though, the best thing for a ridiculously smart kid like this is to help him hone his skills and channel them into constructive, positive things. He definitely has a bright future ahead of him, and a patient, caring mom to help him get there.
Each week, we round up some of the most delightful things around the interwebs to share in one spot, in the hopes that a little timeline cleanser will bring you some comfort, joy and maybe even a little hope as you head into the weekend. There’s no shortage of bad news out there, and social media can be a quagmire of outrage and negativity sometimes, so let’s focus on some simple good stuff for a minute.
From adorable animals to talented kids to hilarious Icelanders, here are 10 things that made us smile this week:

How gorgeous is this video? The music, the backdrop of the misty mountains and the beautiful fox stopping for a moment to enjoy it. Bliss.
And speaking of bliss, let’s go back to elephants for a sec because OMG.
How happy is this fuzzy baby to be in the water? Gracious, that looks refreshing.
Iceland tourism ad hilariously pokes fun of Mark Zuckerberg and the “metaverse.”
Welcome to the Icelandverse, where everything and everyone is real, no one seems like an android and nobody has to wear silly-looking VR headsets. (If you’re not sure what this is referencing, see the first three minutes of Mark Zuckerberg’s metaverse announcement.) Who knew Iceland had such a hilarious sense of humor?
Kitten being fed a bottle? Adorable. The ears, though, are just too much.
Chimpanzees are always funny, but especially when they do something we see ourselves doing. And I 100% have looked like this trying to carry out a bunch of groceries when I’ve forgotten a bag and didn’t want to pay for one.
This baby getting to see clearly for the first time is pure magic.

If Icelandâs stunning night skies, awe-inspiring waterfalls, and geothermal lagoons donât inspire you to pay the country a visit, the nationâs tourism board has their fingers crossed that their cheeky (and frankly hilarious) advertisements might just change your mind. In their latest commercial, Iceland takes a shot at Mark Zuckerberg and his latest endeavor â the Metaverse â by calling out just how weird everything about both the man and the project are.
The advertisement kicks off by introducing a man named âZack Mossbergssonâ â a very obvious Zuckerberg parody complete with a turtleneck and one awkward haircut â who welcomes the viewer to the videoâs âvery natural settingâ before saying he wants âto talk about a revolutionary approach on how to connect our world, without being super weird.â The ad then continues to poke fun at Zuckerbergâs more eccentric habits (like seriously overdoing it on the sunscreen), while talking about how great the âIcealandverseâ is â namely because itâs real.
âSome said itâs not possible. Some said itâs out of reach. To them, we say, itâs already here. Seriously, look, itâs right here.â
Mossbergsson proceeds to then show off some of Icelandâs beautiful sites and attractions while accentuating the point that you can actually see and do them, unlike you can in the Metaverse.
While filled with lots of spoofs and jabs, the advertisement serves the very real purpose of attempting to get folks back to Iceland following the global pandemic. According to Gizmodo, prior to the pandemic tourism accounted for almost 9% of the nationâs GDP and was responsible for employing roughly 30,000 people. Like most countries, the nationâs tourism has taken an understandable hit since COVID-19, but now hopes that their waning number of cases, extremely high vaccination rate, and clever ads will encourage visitors to return.
Shaquille OâNeal is known for doing a whole lot more than just playing basketball. Heâs a rapper, has sponsorship deals with approximately 10,000,000 different things, has shown off his acting chops, and is an analyst on one of the most highly-regarded studio shows in television history. One can argue that few athletes have done as good a job as Shaq as taking their success in their sport and using it to do a host of other things.
Shaq has appeared in a number of different movies, perhaps most notably Kazaam and Blue Chips. But one role that he turned down had the potential to be bigger than anything else heâd done, and it also would have represented quite the change from his more comedic roles.
In a cameo on âThe Marchand and Ourand Sports Media Podcast,â the big fella revealed at the 26:40 mark that he was offered the chance to play John Coffey in the 1999 film The Green Mile. While the late Michael Clarke Duncan took on the role and received universal acclaim for his performance, Shaq said he passed because he did not want to play Coffey.
âI didnât want to play the down south African-American guy during slavery,â Shaq explained. âI didnât want to play that role.â
Shaq was on the Lakers when the film was released and went on to win his first career championship a few months after it came out. Duncanâs performance earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and two decades later, Shaq made clear that heâs glad with how things turned out.
âThe guy who played it did a wonderful job,â Shaq says, âHeâs no longer with us, he passed away. Michael Clarke Duncan did an excellent job. So, think I made the right decision, because he did way better than I could have done. But I was offered that role.â
Resilience, drive, and the ability to adapt. Thatâs whatâs needed to make it as an artist in todayâs world. Having a defined sense of style and a visionary eye are just the foundational building blocks to creating your own path in your chosen industry. To actually forge that journey youâve got to hustle, and hustle hard.
Even then, busting down doors can be difficult. Thatâs why UPROXX and Sprite teamed up to help three emerging talents, all disrupting their industries in bold fashion with unique sounds and eye-catching artistry.
These on-the-brink artists are channeling their voice and distilling their ethos in a wholly original way â using their work to bring attention to issues that matter, pay homage to the greats that came before them, and blend different genres of artistry from music to style and beyond. For our series with Sprite, weâre showcasing where theyâre from and what drives them before handing them an opportunity to take the next step forward in their careers.
Theyâre artists like Turbeazy, a rising MC and magician in the booth who channels his familyâs industry roots, paying respect to the sounds and styles that have come before him while looking forward to whatâs next in the world of hip-hop. For up-and-coming Chicago native Ausar, the journey starts at home as he gives back to his community through his music â rapping about his love for his city and the lessons in self-expression that heâs learned there. And for Talecia Tucker, who launched their own fashion line soon after high school and recently found a passion for film photography, the crossover appeal of art is limitless.
UPROXX and Sprite are helping these artists push their creativity and careers to the next level by working with mentors in their chosen fields to overcome obstacles and reach the next milestone. Weâre telling their stories with a series of micro profiles and videos that show how theyâve smashed barriers to get to where they are today â all while hopefully inspiring others to do the same.
After a trying past few years, former child star Lindsay Lohan is at long last making her grand return to the silver screen in an upcoming Netflix holiday romcom and we now have our first look at it. The project, which is currently untitled, casts Lohan alongside actor and musician Chord Overstreet (Glee) and is slated to release sometime next year. However, while Netflix is keeping the movieâs title under wraps, the streaming service did reveal the plot of the upcoming film, which sounds a just a bit similar to Goldie Hawnâs Overboard and completely adorable:
âLindsay Lohan will star in a new romantic comedy about a newly engaged and spoiled hotel heiress who finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter after getting total amnesia in a skiing accident.â
In addition to Lohan and Overstreet, George Young, Jack Wagner and Olivia Perez are also set to star in the feel-good holiday film. Janeen Damian (Hallmark Channelâs A Christmas Waltz) is directing the movie, which was written by Damian, Michael Damian, Jeff Bonnett, and Ron Oliver.
The upcoming film is merely the latest in Netflixâs ongoing tradition of creating original holiday programs such asA Christmas Prince, The Christmas Chronicles andThe Princess Switch. Just last week, the streamer made news when it released the trailer for its first-ever gay holiday rom-com Single All the Way, which pairs Michael Urie and Philemon Chambers as best friends who grow even closer on a trip back to Urieâs hometown.
In addition to getting back into acting, Lohan is reportedly also planning her big return to music, releasing a 30-second video teaser last year followed by the song âBack to Me.â Hereâs hoping the former star is in a better place and these projects are merely the first of many weâll be getting from her.
Disney+ day churned out a whole slew of announcements and footage for upcoming TV series and other library additions. As it turns out, the streaming service also decided to offer an introductory $1.99 price for the first month, as opposed to the usual (non-bundled and non-otherwise-promoed) price of $7.99 per month. And because The Boys canât resist causing some chaos, the heroes at Voight International decided to introduce their own streaming service, Voight+.
Homelander, Starlight, and the rest of the gang are here to extend a special offer, too, and theyâre encouraging you to â[s]ign up now before the subscription increase next week.â Shot fired. Yes, is coming from Amazon, which currently costs $12.99 for its conventional monthly Prime package (with extra perks including free two-day shipping, and so on), but itâs still a decent (and ultimately good-natured?) joke.
Happy Vought+ Day! Here’s a look at what’s coming up from America’s favorite streaming platform. Sign up now before the subscription increase next week. pic.twitter.com/7kyTF9YuMF
They surely must have had this promo in the can and waiting for an optimal release moment. Whatever the case, itâs nice to see The Boys make an appearance ahead of a Season 3 premiere announcement. Surely that will happen soon, and maybe we can get a peek at the âHerogasmâ episode thatâs forthcoming and will surely outdo death-by-oral from Season 1 and Homelanderâs solo act in the Season 2 finale.
One more thing: PEOPLE announced this week that Ant-Man himself, Paul Rudd, is this yearâs âSexiest Man Alive.â Well, Homelander would like to push that tiny little Marvel hero to the side. Voughtâs Twitter account has declared him to be the âSexiest Hero Alive.â Uh, congrats?
The streamer held an event earlier today teasing some of its most-anticipated shows and movies dropping later this year and in 2022. Among them? A slate of Marvel series, some Star Wars titles, and reboots of nostalgic classics. Now, we couldnât list everything coming from Disney+ â shows like Andor, Ahsoka, Ironheart, and Armor Wars are just too far down the pipeline for any real first-looks â but we did round-up some of the biggest news to come from Disney+ Day here. Even better, we decided to rank which shows and movies weâre most looking forward to. See if you agree with our picks below:
13. Echo
Another win for representation at Marvel, this series will introduce audiences to Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), a deaf, Native American hero who goes by the alter-ego Echo. Look out for her first in Hawkeye where sheâs set to pop up.
12. X-Men â97
Now that Marvel has access to the X-Men archives, theyâre putting it to good use. This animated show is set to follow some of the biggest stories in the beloved â90s timeline of the comic book series, but youâll have to wait a bit longer for it.
11. Prey
In case you forgot that Disney now owns Hulu, this new Predator prequel announcement should serve as a jarring reminder. Disney+ Day included a tease of the latest entry in the franchise which is set in 1719 and follows a young Comanche warrior, who must protect her people when the first Predator lands somewhere in North America. This project has been in limbo for a while, but after the poorly-received 2018 movie, maybe it can get fans interested again?
10. Ms. Marvel
Another Marvel offering, this series Iman Vellani plays Kamala Khan, a young Muslim-American girl who just so happens to be a huge Captain Marvel fan. The preview shows Khan absorbing some kind of energy blast which gives her superpowers after she says that âbrown girls from Jersey Cityâ arenât really the types that save the world. Weâre really glad sheâs going to be wrong about that one.
Again, Disney+ Day didnât give us much video footage of this highly-anticipated series but it did give us a glimpse of Samuel L. Jacksonâs Nick Fury, sans eyepatch. The show takes place during the time in Spider-Man: Far From Home when Fury was thought to be off-world. Well, he was, and this series shows him dealing with a Skrull faction that has secretly been invading Earth for years.
8. Disenchanted
Perhaps the best Disney musical to ever exist in the history of cinema is now on Disney+ and, if that wasnât the stuff of fairytales, fans are also getting a sequel to the film due out sometime next year. To make the announcement, the Mouse got Americaâs Sweetheart Amy Adams and McDreamy himself Patrick Dempsey to share the good news.
7. Willow
Disney+ Day is really serving up a whole meal for â90s kids because they dropped a first-look at the cast of the sequel for another beloved fantasy film. Warwick Davis is back as the venturing dwarf sorcerer, and heâs joined by some familiar faces including his Solo costar Erin Kellyman. The story follows Willow as he helps a princess on her quest to rescue her twin brother. Just ⊠donât make any Lord of the Rings comparisons, okay?
6. Hocus Pocus 2
Speaking of witches, the Anderson sisters are officially returning to Salem in Fall 2022, and Disney+ shared the first look of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy in character as the powerful trio. This follow-up will be set 30 years after the events of the first film as three high school students accidentally summon Winnie, Sarah, and Mary and must stop them before they destroy the town.
5. Agatha: House of Harkness
No, Disney+ did not give us any new clips from this spin-off series centered on everyoneâs favorite dog-killing witch, but that hasnât dimmed out excitement about seeing Kathryn Hahn return to the role of Agatha Harkness. Even more exciting, Jac Schaeffer, who wrote and directed WandaVision, is coming back to helm the project. Not much is known about the plot here. It could follow Agatha during the Salem Witch Trials â she is a centuries-old spellcaster, so sheâs definitely seen some things â or it could be set in more modern times. In the Fantastic Four comics, Agatha was once in charge of mentoring young gifted individuals so, if House of Harkness hints at the witch having her own private school for superpowered kids (maybe even some Fantastic Four members), we wouldnât be mad at that turn of events.
4. Hawkeye
Ok, technically weâve already seen a full trailer for this show and that really shouldâve been sufficient to pique everyoneâs interest but, if youâre still on the fence, the new Disney+ Day preview should get you adequately excited for this on-the-street-style Avengers spin-off. The new footage kicks off with Jeremy Rennerâs Clint Barton arguing over whoâs going to drive the getaway car they just hotwired with Hailee Steinfeldâs Kate Bishop. What follows is an inventively-shot, slick-looking car chase as some Christmas rock blasts through the radio, and Steinfeld shows off her action chops. Sadly, no new footage of the Captain Rogers Musical pops up.
Good news Orphan Black fans, Tatiana Maslany is back on our small screens, and sheâs playing the female version of the Hulk â with some key differences. In the preview from Disney+ Day, Maslany introduces herself as Jennifer Walters, a normal lawyer who can be seen doing some calming yoga exercises and heading to her corporate job. Of course, sheâs only kind-of normal. We get a glimpse of Maslanyâs green-tinted alter-ego, first in a comic-inspired suit and then again in a dress as she looks to be attending some paparazzi-filled red carpet event. We also see Walters in a glass box with a monitoring cap on her head as Mark Ruffaloâs Hulk explains that her transformation is triggered by fear and anger. The preview ends with Maslany and Ruffalo decked out in â70s garb as her character warns, âDonât make me angry. You wouldnât like me when Iâm angry.â Ummm, maâam, we think we will.
Oscar Isaac makes his Marvel debut in this fairly dark comic book property about a man with disassociative identity disorder and a taste for violence. Isaacâs Marc Spector hears voices in his head and believes heâs the incarnation of an Egyptian god named Khonshu. If you werenât ready for Marvel to get that wild, just wait until you hear the Yorkshire accent Isaacâs sporting. The preview shows a confused and terrified Spector running around London and hiding in museums before giving us a glimpse of the actor in the iconic white suit and cape as Spectorâs alter-ego viciously beats a man and later jumps between building rooftops. Weâve seen a behind-the-scenes look at the training Isaacâs undergone to bring the bloody vigilante to life, but watching Moon Knight in action proves the show is going to be much darker than anything Marvelâs done on Disney+ before. And weâre here for it.
Disney+ has a ton of Star Wars titles on its upcoming streaming roster, but few have been as hyped as this spin-off which sees Ewan McGregor returning to the role of the wise, somewhat-cheeky Jedi master. The show is set 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith as Obi-Wan enters a pretty dark time in his journey. His pupil has turned to the Dark Side, the Jedi council is destroyed, and heâs tasked with keeping a young Luke Skywalker safe from the Empire. In the preview on Disney+, McGregor teases another showdown between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader (who will once again be played by Hayden Christensen in the series) by saying, âTo have another swing at each other might be quite satisfying.â We certainly think so.
